Entertaining, But barely realistic.

Too much Extreme Fantasy.
Basic knowledge of EMPs CMEs is lacking. Society turning into MadMax within hours was Absurd. Society would take a week or two to even realize and be convinced the lights weren't coming back on, let alone start hunting down and attacking like animals in 4 hours or even 8 days in.
Big difference between big City Looting immediately in a blackout and rural America at each other's throats like rabid animals before sundown of the event.

Unrealistic Shallow Cop-Ish Apocalypse Story

The story starts unrealistic and unbelievable with the EMP Disaster almost an already known and assumed fact before any reason to suspect. Storyline was overly simplistic and shallow, like a Primetime Hollywood TV Show. Shallow Characters and story.
I am former Military And Law Enforcement and tried hard to empathize and ignore the overly simplistic shallow plot and story, and try to just enjoy some mindless action thrown on top of a generic disaster scenario, but could not.
Stopped reading part way through first book.
