Reminded me of NPC, very good story but wish it was longer! I also enjoyed the narrator.

Author needs therapy
Revisado: 09-18-24
Author clearly thinks all well off people like his previous boss etc are free loader parasites living off their ‘hard working’ employees! This from the guy who started book 1 in the cooler playing on his cell phone. To me that sort of work ethic is short for theft since he clearly wasn’t earning his pay check! Some of the characters in these books were good but book 3 was like pulling teeth

Very entertaining
Revisado: 05-11-24
A little too gory, but narration great and characters well developed and mimic kept me laughing (or cringing) as I laughed. Nicely done. Only one technical flaw stood out but may be on purpose for book 3

Historia
When it comes to action and adventure, every hero needs a good sidekick. Holmes has Watson, Batman has Robin, and Daniel has . . . Orrin. More like brothers than friends, they always have each other's backs. And as Daniel is the big, strong, handsome type, Orrin is more than happy to remain in his shadow at school, at parties, pretty much everywhere. Then things take a turn for the truly weird when a terrible accident catapults the pair into a world totally unlike their own, in which the rules of a role-playing game hold sway.

Good story, lousy narration
Revisado: 04-30-24
Narrator was good except some dummy director had him emphasize every game word. Story was worth the annoyance but I hope they just have a plain narration for book 2

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Young adult but well thought out

Relatively well thought out but somewhat linear and predictable. Great however if intended for young readers but if so it’s a bit on the graphic side

Good read
Revisado: 12-26-23
Mostly positive recounting of an apocalypse. Not your usual doom, gloom and horrible behavior. Author actually kept it pretty positive with the best of human nature taking the lead. The only problem I had was in the end everyone moved where there is no oil , little mineral resources and subject to tsunamis and volcanic activity yet they claimed it was the best place in the world to survive long term?

The galaxy is doomed. Monkeys may be clever and too stubborn to give up, but Skippy The Idiot Who Got Played knows the harsh truth: this is a fight he can’t win. The odds are not only stacked against him, he was designed not to win this fight. Maybe he can salvage some faint memory of the civilizations that inhabit the galaxy, but those beings are doomed. Doomed. Including the Merry Band of Pirates.

Historia
It was supposed to be a simple scouting mission. In and out. No fighting. No new quests. Just me, my hippocorn, Alice, and a few hired mercenaries. We were going to tiptoe into the Spiral, get the info we needed, and leave. You know, the Spiral? That tower-defense run that protects the hobgoblin capital from invaders? Easy, right? Nobody would even know we were there. Yeah, so about that....

The Yellowstone super-eruption has put an end to modern civilization. As cities and countries continue to fall, the colony of Rivendell in the alternate Earth known as Outland looks more and more like the only real hope for humanity. But life in Rivendell isn’t getting any simpler, either. Bill and Kevin continue to discover new worlds; the population continues to rise; winter is approaching; and everyone has their own opinion about how things should be run.

Was great until he contrived partisan politics
Revisado: 01-29-23
Why must modern writers ruin good books with stupid political ideas? Yes, with all the partisanship in the world today with corrupt governments, censorship, and lying by the news media, I personally get how it can be frustrating but _ Can we say to Dennis "STOP PLEASE" and work on the books characters and build more believable conflicts and avoid any more of your own political rants. The authors politics are obvious. WHO CARES! Dennis is a great writer! Dennis! If you read this review, understand you are loosing readers like me who think our founding fathers were magicians, who wrote one of the best foundations in the declaration and constitution for any country in history. Yes there are corrupt people and democracy is not perfect since its politicians can buy votes with a promise to give everyone what they want at the expense of everyone else. This needs to be fixed, but our democratically elected representative republic is not the best form of government for a small colony but for a large established country like America in spite of all its faults, a representative constitutional republic is still a better form of government than every other form of government to date. Until we learn how to only elect ethical, moral and intelligent people who are not power hungry, our government will never be perfect whether those elected are young or old, college educated or self taught. Taylor obviously knows this as his characters have to deal with the bully's, lay abouts and self righteous elites over and over again. SO Please give your anti-American bias a rest!
Corruption knows no age and destroys governments and economies everywhere! Although most frontier communities do best with lots of mutual cooperation (barn raising etc), this book showed the stupidity of a democratic communist/socialist government at least 3 different times highlighting lay abouts, elitists, and autocrats but then it tries to promote an enforced socialist system governed only by young idealists as the best form for a central government. Voluntary teamwork "works", mandated team work "fails" since it kills off an individuals motivation to do their best.. It's been proven time and time again. The Russians under soviet rule had a saying that says it best. 'So long as the government continues to pretend to pay us, we will continue to pretend to work!' I loved Outland, the first 2/3rds of Earthside were worth the read but I may not buy a sequel if the rest of the series keeps this rant alive.
