Historia
America faces a full-scale socioeconomic collapse in the near future. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation cripples commerce and the mounting crisis passes the tipping point. Practically overnight, the fragile chains of supply and high-technology infrastructure fall, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every major city.

Solid Story

I like the story and all the connections. The narrator was also particularly good and seemed to genuinely like the story himself.

Historia
"For many days we had been tempest-tossed...the raging storm increased in fury until on the seventh day all hope was lost." So begins this delightful adventure story. The Robinson family, a Swiss pastor, his wife, and four sons, will emerge alive from this terrible storm, bringing to land two dogs and a shipload of livestock: hens, pigeons, and geese.

way too much
Revisado: 04-01-24
This book could have been amazing if the author had just stayed with native plants and animals. Instead the author used the "Noah's Ark Approach" and introduced every animal he could think of. It became too much and now makes this story almost unreadable. Maybe someone should just edit out the non-native animals so it can be a great story.

Historia
Here, in his own words, is the true story of America's wildest flying hero, of his extraordinary heroism, and of his greatest battle of all-the fight to survive. The World War II air war in the Pacific needed tough men like Colonel Pappy Boyington and his Black Sheep Squadron. The legendary Marine Corps officer and his bunch of misfits, outcasts, and daredevils gave a new definition to "hell-raising" - on the ground and in the skies.

Interesting
Revisado: 05-26-23
This is an interesting book and provides a lens to help us understand how this guy thought. I would highly recommend supplementing it with other sources as he does not always provide the full story. But I guess in the end that nobody really tells the complete truth. It is worth reading though.

Historia
The Yellowstone super-eruption has put an end to modern civilization. As cities and countries continue to fall, the colony of Rivendell in the alternate Earth known as Outland looks more and more like the only real hope for humanity. But life in Rivendell isn’t getting any simpler, either. Bill and Kevin continue to discover new worlds; the population continues to rise; winter is approaching; and everyone has their own opinion about how things should be run.

Revisado: 05-26-23
I think this book is actually pretty good and is not too full of crazy politics. It has a lot of tough choices but it follows well with the first book. It's not bad and is quite riveting.

Historia
When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.

Really Good
Revisado: 01-22-21
This is actually a very good book. While some of the plot seems a little bit unplausible, almost all sci-fi is at least a little bit unbelievable. This is a good book about people banding together and using science to solve a big problem. The narration is excellent and I am glad that I purchased this book.

Historia
Jack Reilly’s luck ran out just before the war did. Released on a medical discharge shortly after the end of the war with the Serkins, he went out into the galaxy looking for a job. Signing onto the Glacier Runner 17, an old and rundown cargo ship, Rielly finds himself working for a clueless captain, mixed-up in an intergalactic conspiracy, on the run from assassins, and involved with two women in relationships that he could only call "complicated".

Excellent and exciting
Revisado: 01-06-21
This was a really refreshing audio adventure. The book started off exciting and kept on going right to the end (with a nice bit of mystery at the end). If you like space adventure, I highly suggest you get this book and then the next book in the series. The plot was well thought out and the narration was superb.

Historia
The Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor was a resounding success - except for one detail: A second bombing mission, to destroy crucial oil storage facilities, was aborted that day. Now, in this gripping and stunning work of alternate history, Robert Conroy reimagines December 7, 1941, to include the attack the Japanese didn't launch, and what follows is a thrilling tale of war, resistance, sacrifice, and courage. For when Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto sees how badly the United States has been ravaged in a two-pronged strike, he devises another, more daring proposal.

Pretty Good but...
Revisado: 01-25-20
The narration is excellent. The story could happen, but the plot seems like there are a lot of assumptions that are probably pretty weak. If you love this series, the book is ok. If you want an introduction, try the other titles about WWI and WW2 from LJ.

Classic western
Revisado: 01-25-20
This was a great story with a very believable yet interesting plot. This reminds me a lot of the old classic westerns. This book is very good. I also enjoyed the fact that it ended at the right time. It was not too short and was not too long. I will be looking to listen to more from the author/narrator.

Really Good
Revisado: 06-15-18
This is actually a really good book. It involves a group of younger adults getting together to play and be immersed in a game. I have been skeptical of RPG books in the past but this one is interesting with a good plot and a lot of action. It sort of reminds me a lot if Tron with the game immersion. I wonder if this may be the future with VR. Hopefully, there will be more books in this series. The narration was very well done and I enjoyed listening to him.
