Historia
Evan MacIan is a tall, dark-haired, blue-eyed Scottish Highlander and a devout Roman Catholic. James Turnbull is a short, red-haired, gray-eyed Lowlander and a devout but naïve atheist. The two meet when MacIan smashes the window of the street office where Turnbull publishes an atheist journal. This act of rage occurs when MacIan sees posted on the shop's window a sheet that blasphemes the Virgin Mary, presumably implying she was an adulteress who gave birth to an illegitimate Jesus.

Truly Extraordinary
Revisado: 12-13-22
Chesterton deftly weaves a parable that is uproariously delightful yet deeply sobering, unstintingly whimsical yet supercharged with Truth, and increasingly implausible - yet chillingly prophetic.

Beautiful, tender, haunting, and full of excitement, this is the memoir of famed author, explorer, Glacier Park guide, trader, and historian of the Blackfoot Indians, James Willard Schultz. With the Blackfoot woman, whom he deeply loved, from 1880 to 1903, Schultz lived the life of a Blackfoot Indian with Nat-ah-ki and her people. During this time, he began writing for magazines, at times running a trading post, and working as a guide in the West.

Historia
On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

Good Story with told
Revisado: 07-19-22
as a former operator, I enjoyed the authenticity of the story. This is not a story told by some journalists to note journalist who knows nothing about weapons, tactics, et cetera.
That said there were several tactical errors in the story. But I supposed the non-specialist they wouldn't be a bother.
It's a bit gruesome at places but comes together well at the end

Historia
In the 1920s, long before he wrote The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was an accomplished pilot. Along with Jean Mermoz and Henri Guillaumet, he was chosen to pioneer new mail routes across the globe. No distance was too far and no mountain too high - each letter had to reach its destination. The three friends soared through the air, while back on solid ground, they dealt with a world torn apart by wars and political factions.

The Prince of the skies
A sweeping, poignant panorama of love & sacrifice
This story about Antoine de St Exupery And two of his fellow aviators is almost as beautifully written as Exupery himself; Filled with thoughtful descriptions, Philosophical introspections And the stuff That lives beneath the veil of the superficial life. It is one of those books that you do not want to end. It is an honest work that does not hide the foibles Shortcomings And sometime immoral excesses of the characters. Yet that same honesty Paints an unvarnished picture of their courageous and sacrificial exploits. Read it, you will not be sorry.

Historia
Joseph Conrad's searing tale of one of the strangest and most memorable journeys ever taken. Quite simply the scariest book ever written, this is a searing tale of one of the strangest and most memorable journeys ever undertaken - to the heart of a geographical and psychological wilderness from which no-one returns unscarred. For this isn't simply a journey up an uncharted river into a geographical wilderness; rather, it's a trip deep into our collective subconscious.

Incredibly luxurious Prose
Revisado: 12-23-20
I suppose I expected something of a travelogue of the Congo. This is not that. What this is is a meandering story that is weak on plot but infused with amazing descriptions. Again those descriptions are not of the flora and fauna of the Congo. They are, instead, riveting and insightful descriptions of the characters' souls. Conrad's writing is amazing. And the narrator is just as amazing. He is perfect for this piece. As one who luxuriate in verbiage, I enjoyed the book.

Beautifully rendered but NO SECTION MARKINGS
Revisado: 04-27-20
I absolutely loved the reading. Especially Samantha Egger. I wish she had read the whole thing. She has the perfect voice and presentation for this . There were only a few mistakes in the hours that I listened. That is usually the case with audio bibles. For some reason they don't proof read what they've said. Even though this is God's word.
Why the low rating then? Because this has 24 sections and none of them are marked! That means that I'm always shooting in the dark, trying to remember which section I was reading, having no idea what part of The Bible it contains. I listened to this for about 6 weeks and I finally gave up and returned it.
It's really unconscionable for them to put something out like this without taking the time to mark the sections.

MUCH MORE THAN A "KARZAI STORY"
Revisado: 12-08-19
this outstanding, insightful, and detailed account it's much more than the story of the Karzai family, It is the story of Afghanistan itself since the US invasion. I have read over 60 books on Afghanistan and, this rakes as one of the best. It gave me insights beneath the veil into the inner workings in personalities behind major events and decisions in that country. Highly recommended, I will read it a second time.

As a National Public Radio reporter covering the last stand of the Taliban in Afghanistan's southern borderland, Sarah Chayes became deeply immersed in the attempt to rebuild a broken nation. With her NPR assignment finished in early 2002, she left reporting to help turn around the country's fortunes, accepting a job running a nonprofit founded by President Hamid Karzai's brother. With remarkable access to leading players in the postwar government, Chayes witnessed a tragic, perverse turn of events.

a painful, poignant local tale of the Afghan war
Revisado: 04-06-19
this story was absolutely painful to read. not because it was poorly written, or that the subject matter was uninteresting, but because it details the avoidable failures of us forces in Afghanistan. this Tale pulls away the curtain and sheds light on both the past, present and the future of that country. every Marine, Soldier and Airman headed to Afghanistan needs to read this book. I've been there a few times myself, and have red over 50 books on the subject, yet none of them approaches this for sheer street level insight into the local second and third order effects of our actions there. much to learn and benefit from here.
