I hate the MC so much I stopped 2/3s into book 3

Despite the MC saying he does a lot of studying he knows nothing. Despite being 25 he acts like a horny teenager. He doesn't make any decisions at all and things just happen to him. He doesn't think at all about his class choices and just does exactly what he thinks his dad would do. With how he acts and his experience with fighting he should have picked a completly different class imo. his dad knee capped his dream but still idolizes him. His dad left him poor and alone when he could have left him and his family set up for life but this is never touched on. He has huge issues with his money and has award winning lines like " why does everyone think war is so bad" and "if you come work for me I'll pay you 100x what you make now" despite having no idea what his income actually is. He has no backbone and just goes where the wind blows him. I've never hated a MC so much.

the books are also incredibly slow and basically nothing happens in all of book 2.

plot doesn't seem to go anywhere

DNF I got a good chunk into the second book. It feels like we are just moving from fight to fight without lots of plot in-between. I don't find myself caring about the characters. it took that long just to learn about who some of the main characters are.

I don't really know why we are fighting outside of good vs evil. I don't really know why any of the gods chose one side or the other. and there are soooo many characters I don't get attached to any of them.

if you really like fights this book is for you.

Hard to focus on.

Sooooo many stats way way too many. Super OP main character even if he only barely survives most the time. IDK just not great. the world building is good though. Big plot armor too.

didn't get to the 4th book. protagonist is very cliche. the world seems cool but I didn't like any of the characters.

I find in these kind of books what's makes it good is usually the 2nd arc. this is one of those. It is pretty cliche in the first book 2nd is better imo.

Good book couple of weird choices.

Book was good. Couple of thing I wanted to put in the review though.

so every audio book I have ever listened to is performed by the same sex voice actor as the main character. Having the main character gay and then having it voiced by a women is mildly offensive as it implys gay men and women are interchangeable or that gay men are basically women. My gay brother and his fiance agreed with me on this. Also the way it is talked about as "alternative life style" is while not offensive certainly eye rolling. I don't think either was intended as it seems like the author is trying very hard to be LGBT+ positive this is something to thinking about.

aside from that the way the end of the book went it felt too early for the way the conflict ended to end that way. But that is minor I do plan on listening to or reading the sequels

couldn't get into it

Got half way though the book but still didn't care about any of the characters. Asher's story started off interesting and then told us almost nothing about him. non of the other plots were very memorable and they didn't seem to have a good reason for what they were doing. obviously some people like this series but not for me.
