Historia
In a not-so-distant future, a deadly pandemic has forced the world into social isolation. Confined to their homes, millions now survive off drone-delivered food packages and online-only interactions. It’s an especially lonely life for John Chambers, a drone shipment coordinator for the monolithic Chum Corporation. Trapped in his dead-end job and having just turned 40, John’s started spending more time grinding in virtual reality MMORPGs than he does grinding for his real-world job--and that hasn’t gone unnoticed by human resources!

Best use of sounds and multiple narrators
Revisado: 07-01-21
I've listened to many ...many books and some with sound effects and multiple narrators but this tops them all by far! Also, don't be swayed by the reviews and comparisons to Ready Player One as the only similarities are 80's references and VR. That book is great too but this is great in its own right and not a simple rip off.

Historia
This is a new edition of Madame Blavatsky's famous book on shabd yoga. Her work has similarities with the Nada Bindu Upanishad and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Shiv Dayal Singh's Sar Bachan. Highly recommended for those interested in meditation that focuses on listening to inner music and focusing on inner light and achieving spiritual liberation or moksha.

Terrible Narrator
Revisado: 05-27-21
There's no pauses in the narration as if hurrying through the book to make a buck. I regret the few dollars I spent on this as I got almost nothing out of it due to her poor attention to periods and commas.

Historia
In this Audible Original “mini-memoir”, the Academy Award-winning star of Little Miss Sunshine and Argo looks back on his life as a series of philosophical turning points, learning experiences, and a-ha moments. Drawn from a collection of seemingly inexplicable stories and encounters from Arkin's 84 years on this planet, Out of My Mind is a candid, relatable and delightfully irreverent take on how one man went searching for meaning and ended up discovering himself.

Superstitious BS
Revisado: 01-27-19
From faith healing, past lives, Freudian psychology, and irrational beliefs unchanged by skepticism. That said, the reading is great, I love to hear the actor read his own story. I just hate to see someone so respected in the acting world to give over his time, effort, and belief system to ideas and claims that have been proven false. It seems though that the author has found enough positive experience and ideas to create and to become an excellent person who believes in being kind and good to himself and others.

Historia
In The Land: Predators, the Mist Village has harnessed its power. With core buildings, professional fighters, and now their own dungeon, the settlement is primed to grow into a kingdom of true power and magic. The path to power has not been without risk, however. The MistVillage has been noticed. Evil nobles from the Kingdom of Law, bloodthirsty goblins from the Serrated Mountains, an undead lord with a penchant for human sacrifice, and fanatical kobolds from the Depths all plot the village's destruction.

Absolutely great!
Revisado: 08-06-18
The length of the book which is by far the longest in the series was a treat for those who like me like the value of length and credits, also, there was no wasted space or parts that should have been left out.
Aside from the length, as in all the other books, I thoroughly enjoyed the book, the character, the format of an amazing LitRPG, and the plot(s) continue to build and hold interest throughout!
Keep the books coming!

Historia
The good news is that the great thinkers from history have proposed the same strategies for happiness and fulfilment. The bad news is that these turn out to be the very things most discouraged by contemporary culture. This knotty dilemma is the subject of The Age of Absurdity - a wry and accessible investigation into how the desirable states of well-being and satisfaction are constantly undermined by modern life.

Excellent pessimistic take on modernity
Revisado: 06-01-18
While at times I found the constant criticism of modern life to sound a bit like whining or unfair, after thinking about the points a little more, I found if taken by themselves they express in distinct brevity the heart of what really is the trapping of the topic at hand. I also found the occasional example to be misleading with a type of brief Google search research that is done by most laypeople. With those criticisms of the book out of the way, I found the book to be exactly what I needed and wanted; an all encompassing work on what's wrong with modern culture. While the author seems to be from Ireland, I found that this did not hinder his work being relevant for Americans.

Historia
Die Wise does not offer seven steps for coping with death. It does not suggest ways to make dying easier. It pours no honey to make the medicine go down. Instead, with lyrical prose, deep wisdom, and stories from his two decades of working with dying people and their families, Stephen Jenkinson places death at the center of the discussion and asks us to behold it in all its painful beauty. Die Wise teaches the skills of dying, skills that have to be learned in the course of living deeply and well.

Fairly good
Revisado: 05-23-18
This book has a great narrative of the failure of modern American culture to deal well with our dying. However, the solutions he describes tends to get lost for me in the continual discussion of how nearly everything we do and have done has been a mistake when it comes to the dying. the solutions are supposed to have started at around chapter 100 or so...!!! this left about 4 hours for the author and narrator to get to the point but I felt that when his ideas were mentioned, they were talked about briefly and without enough detail for me to really understand and envision how to put them into practice and even to really recall them after the book ended.

Historia
When Michael Pollan set out to research how LSD and psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) are being used to provide relief to people suffering from difficult-to-treat conditions such as depression, addiction, and anxiety, he did not intend to write what is undoubtedly his most personal book. But upon discovering how these remarkable substances are improving the lives not only of the mentally ill but also of healthy people coming to grips with the challenges of everyday life, he decided to explore the landscape of the mind in the first person as well as the third.

Revisado: 05-19-18
the best sane approach to a subject that has too often been all too wrapped up in non scientific language and thinking, all too ready to accept the most illogical and emotional thoughts and rationale. This book in contrast breaks through the genre with a down to earth approach and yet ready to accept the vision and experience that psychedelic therapy has to offer.
