Historia
The man who became known as Esrahaddon is reported to have destroyed the world’s greatest empire—but there are those who believe he saved it. Few individuals are as divisive, but all agree on three facts: He was exiled to the wilderness, hunted by a goblin priestess, and sentenced to death by a god—all before the age of eight. How he managed to survive and why people continued to fear his name a thousand years later has always been a mystery...until now.

This is one of my favorites!
Revisado: 07-29-24
I started at the back end of these books and now I’m working my way through until I get back to where I started. Knowing the ending helps, but I still have SO many questions! Esrahaddon is such a neat character. I definitely want more of his life and I wish things had turned out differently for him. One thing I would like are some freaking happy endings or something like that! Even if it’s only for a short while, it’d be nice for these people to have something other than doom and gloom. Despite that, I’m excited to move onto the next part!

Historia
Before its end as a nation, there appeared in ancient Israel nine specific warnings and omens of national destruction. These same nine harbingers are now manifesting in America with profound ramifications for America’s future and end-time prophecy. Hidden in an ancient biblical prophecy from Isaiah, the mysteries revealed in The Harbinger are so precise that they foretell recent American events down to the exact days.

Revisado: 06-10-24
This book is incredibly eye opening. I felt like taking notes the entire time. My only problem is that one cannot distinguish who is speaking because the voices do not change at all. It becomes confusing and this is not a book you want any confusion or to miss anything. So every time you realize someone else is speaking, your brain takes a few moments to figure that out. Meanwhile, there’s still conversation happening. So over the course of 8ish hours, too much is lost. I had to rewind several times. I guess it’s worth it, but it should be seamless for the listener as I am usually in the car or cleaning with chemicals and can’t be touching the phone or my earbuds.

Great family friendly trilogy!

Not too much to say here except that you have to pay close attention because the character shifts can happen quickly and because of the time bending nature of the series, you can get lost and confused quickly. Other than that, it was really good!

Amazing narrator, awesome story!
Revisado: 02-03-24
This is the second time I’ve listened to this book over the years and it’s just as impactful now as it was then. There’s really too much to say about this book than for an Audible review. It’s so extensive and rich in its depth. Truly breathtaking! The narrator makes the story come to life. It’s too bad there isn’t a part 2!

Historia
Nahri has never believed in magic. Certainly, she has power; on the streets of 18th-century Cairo, she’s a con woman of unsurpassed talent. But she knows better than anyone that the trades she uses to get by - palm readings, zars, and a mysterious gift for healing - are all tricks, both the means to the delightful end of swindling Ottoman nobles and a reliable way to survive. But when Nahri accidentally summons Dara, an equally sly, darkly mysterious djinn warrior, to her side during one of her cons, she’s forced to reconsider her beliefs.

Revisado: 12-28-23
I really enjoyed this story, but was shocked with the 8 f-bombs. I’m a car listener with my family, so this caught me off guard and became a ‘mom only’ book after the first one. What a shame because it adds nothing to the story whatsoever. Beyond that, I’ve already used my credit for the next book!

Enjoyable but repetitive plots
Revisado: 12-20-23
I think separately, the stories would be fun. But all 4 together is overwhelming. Each guy is ‘super hunky’. Both the guy and gal are too dense to see what’s in front of their faces. Constant miscommunications and ridiculous assumptions. By the end, I just fast forwarded to the end because I couldn’t take another ‘oh no, he/she must love someone else (or wants out of the relationship) because of xyz conversation filled with incorrect assumptions’. It’s too much.

Historia
"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Very poor narration. Ruins the story.
Revisado: 08-17-23
There’s no way around it—narration is sub standard. It makes the audio painful to listen to. With so many great narrators out there, why did they choose someone’s mom to read it? Nothing wrong with that concept in principle, but on this stage, it was the wrong decision.
I’m not just saying this. I have nearly 800 books in my audible library. It’s an addiction, I know. However, that gives me a lot of experience in this area. I’m trying so hard to just gut this out, but instead of an audiobook being a pleasant experience, it’s like nails on a chalkboard. Like watching the poor acting of everyone except Ewan McGregor in Star Wars I, II, and III. Just painful.

It was so good! Lessons about God’s sovereignty
Revisado: 04-17-23
Her books always teach me something. Some details about historical events I never considered. And each time I get really angry and end up crying. But even more than that, I get to see how God looks through the eyes of others. These are the most valuable lessons I learn from her books.
The whole Nazi thing and the Holocaust still blows my mind, but all it takes is for good people to do nothing. But as children of God, it’s our job to step in and do something if and when we can. There will always be ‘why’s’. More unknown than known. But we can ALWAYS know that God is faithful and is working for our good, even if that means bad stuff happens to us. Hard pill to swallow, but I would never trade my troubles for those of the Jewish people throughout history.

Historia
Paksenarrion was the finest paladin her world would ever see. But Paksenarrion could never have become a fighter at all had it not been for he who had come before: Gird, the liberator, who taught his people that they could fight - and win - against their Mage-born rulers. And after Gird came one more: Luap, Gird's sworn follower and the king's half-breed bastard. Riven by internal conflict, Luap dare not lie and cannot tell the truth, nor face the future.

Hmm. Not bad. Not great though
Revisado: 04-06-23
Where to begin. Many years ago I read Paksenarrion and I recall really liking it. And I love Moon’s Vatta’s War series, so I figured to give these prequels a go. I’m still kind of torn. The narration was bizarre if I’m being honest. I don’t know if the narrator was trying to be a plodding peasant or what, but everyone sounded the same, up until the last 2 hrs or so. It was very difficult to determine who was speaking.
And the plot—hmm. I’m just not sure what to say. It didn’t seem to go anywhere but then there was a lot of action and lots of time passing and no real explanation of what or why. I guess I’ve forgotten much of the plot of Paks’ book because this one didn’t make a lot of sense. I’m going to plow through the next one because the ending of this one is so very strange. Again, I’m not sure why.
But this is a problem with someone deciding to start out at book 1 or -3 or whatever you want to call it. These stories should be foundational with no prior knowledge necessary, but it always seems as if I’m missing something important—like I’ve accidentally fast forwarded.

Pretty decent installment, but the ending isn’t good
Revisado: 12-26-22
It was weird having a different narrator at first, but I eventually got used to her. The story flowed along fairly well, but there are still a lot of unanswered questions and holes in the story where things don’t make sense. And the ending was totally rushed and also doesn’t make much sense considering the previous books. Ky goes from conquering hero to persona non grata almost overnight and no one is backing her up—not even formerly strong allies. Anyway, this is my second listen, but it’s been a few years. I can’t quite remember the next book and I’m hoping it’s not a disappointment.
