What a treat this was!
Revisado: 02-12-25
What a treat this was! Emma Scott is one of my favorite authors and I was so excited to dive into her newest release. Zach and Rowan..... this story has so much emotion, so much self-discovery, and so much heart. The Hollywood setting was so interesting to me. Both main characters were wounded from past relationships, and I loved how they helped each other heal. Narrator Caitlin Kelly has performed other books by author Emma Scott, and I just love her voice. She was a perfect Rowan. Zachary Johnson was new to me, but he did an excellent job as Hollywood heartthrob Zach.

A year ago Hank "Hazardous" Lazarus had everything: a gorgeous girlfriend, a career as a freestyle snowboarder, and a spot on the US Olympic team. Then a bad crash in the half-pipe left him unable to move his legs. He lost his sport, his career, and the girlfriend, too. He's is in a bad way until he meets Dr. Callie Anders. Her quick smile makes him want to live again. If only she weren't so cagey. He doesn't know whether to punch the ex-boyfriend who hurt her or thank the man for making her single.

I was gripped with Hank's story
Revisado: 02-12-25
After meeting Callie in Coming in from the Cold, the first book in Sarina Bowen's Gravity series, I was excited to get to know her better in this book. And I absolutely loved her! I was gripped with Hank's story and Callie having such a positive impact in his life was such a joy. I listed to the audiobook and enjoyed the performances from two of my favorite narrators, Tanya Eby and Aiden Snow.

Ryot Bisley is my husband. Yes, the former third baseman for the Chicago Rebels and absolute heartthrob of the Windy City. That Ryot Bisley. The first time I ran into him, he was grumpy, a horrific host, and left me on his sofa with nothing but a nylon baseball flag to use as a blanket.

So good!
Revisado: 01-10-25
I don't know how she does it, but Meghan Quinn can take a trope like marriage in trouble and still have me laughing! Yes, there were deep moments (I even got teary!), but the way she alternated between present day and the past allowed those lighter, super funny moments to shine. I loved Myla and Ryot so much and was rooting for them all along. Although this books stands alone just fine, it was great to catch up with characters from her Cane brothers series, and since Ryot played for the Chicago Bobbies, we got some baseball thrown in as well (my favorite!). Narrators Jason Clarke (he's one of my favorites!) and Stella Hunter gave great performances.

I loved sassy Mollie and cowboy Cash together
Revisado: 12-18-24
When I saw that one of my favorite authors, Jessica Peterson, was going to do a series based on a ranch in Texas, I was immediately in since I grew up in a small Oklahoma town just a few hours north of Texas. Cash was just as great as I hoped it would be and now I am so excited for the Lucky River Ranch series. Grumpy/sunshine is my all-time favorite trope, and this was a fantastic take on it. The banter was on point and I loved sassy Mollie and cowboy Cash together. Narrators Stephen Dexter and Lila Winters were excellent and I enjoyed their performances very much.

Historia
Living in a year around Christmas town has its drawbacks. The caroling, the decorations, the insanely cheery spirit, it never disappears. It's why I like to hibernate away in my cave - I mean housekeeping a healthy distance from the holly jolly spirits. And all was going according to plan until my nemesis, Storee Taylor, moved in next door to care for her Aunt Cindy. Without blinking, she turned my simple world into a real nightmare-before-Christmas, especially when she decided to enter the town Christmas Kringle contest - which she was determined to win.

This was a treat from beginning to end!
Revisado: 11-01-24
No author makes me cackle quite like Meghan Quinn does. Without fail, I know there will be many laugh out loud moments each time I read one of her books. And although it's just mid-October, after reading How My Neighbor Stole Christmas, I am now fully ready for the holiday season to begin! This was just a hoot- the competition aspect and all the individual contests were just hilarious and so creative and I loved all the Grinch tie-ins. I listened to the audiobook, and it was done so well. It was duet style with a full cast and that just made the story even better. "Snow Daddy" Cole and Storee has fantastic chemistry and were such a fantastic grumpy/sunshine pairing. This was a treat from beginning to end!

Revisado: 10-31-24
I read A Thousand Boy Kisses when it was released back in 2016, and it was so heartbreaking beautiful that I've re-read it and recommended it many times. I dove into A Thousand Broken Pieces and it was just extraordinary- it was so well written! You can really feel all the emotions the characters go through. You'll need tissues for the journey to the HEA, but it is so worth it!

Historia
Death had been chasing me my entire life. I survived the horrors of war, but it was the aftermath that truly destroyed me. People called me a recluse, but the only time I didn’t feel like I was suffocating was inside that house. For my daughter, I kept some semblance of normalcy by implementing a rigid routine. Once a week, I forced myself to walk to the diner at the end of the block—a ritual I despised but relied on as my last anchor to the real world.

Aly Martinez does twists like no one else can!
Revisado: 10-28-24
I always say author Aly Martinez is the master of catastrophic romance, and Alone With You might just be my new favorite of hers! She does twists like nobody else and they always slay me. Gwen and Truett's story was so real, and so raw, and so well done. Although the subject matter is dark and heavy the journey brings them to such a happy ending. The narration by Patrick Zeller and Kit Swann was fantastic.

Historia
Eve is a successful novelist who wakes up one day in a hospital bed with no memory of how she got there. Her husband, never far from her side, explains that she has had an operation to remove the large, malignant tumor growing in her brain. As Eve learns to walk, talk, and write again—and as she wrestles with her diagnosis, and how and when to explain it to her beloved children—she begins to recall what’s most important to her: long walks with her husband’s hand clasped firmly around her own, family game nights, and always buying that dress when she sees it.

So brave!
Revisado: 10-23-24
I have been a fan of Sophie Kinsella since reading Confessions of a Shopaholic in 2000. I think I have read every single book she has written and loved them all. I was so sad to hear she was ill and it was so brave of her to share her journey with us in this book. Which is it fiction, she called it "my most autobiographical work to date". I will admit to getting choked up quite a few times while listening to the audiobook, in particular the afterword that she herself narrates. I loved the "normal plus" concept the character Eve describes, as well as how important "small pleasures" are. Indeed!

In my defense, I thought the plane was going to crash. Otherwise, I never would have blurted out those embarrassing things to a perfect stranger. Did I mention he turned out to be a scorching hot superstar of professional hockey? But wait, there’s more. When the plane lands safely, I rush off, praying I’ll never have to face him again. My luck holds out for less than twenty-four hours, when I realize he’s a groomsman at the wedding I’m attending.

Revisado: 10-07-24
I was really excited when author Melanie Harlow announced that the last book in the Cherry Tree Harbor series would focus on Mabel. I adored Mabel and Joe's meet-cute! They had such great chemistry right off the bat and I was so eager to see what was in store for them in this book. Hockey player Joe was just plain swoon-worthy and I loved watching their relationship grow and progress as I read. Getting to know more about the Lupo family was great too. I listened to the audiobook and narrators Connor Crais and Kirsten Leigh gave excellent performances as Joe and Mabel.

What a joy this book was!
Revisado: 10-01-24
I've been listening to author Sophie Hudson's podcast for years, enjoying her wisdom and humor. A Fine Sight to See was filled with that and more. I've always thought of Exodus as a bit daunting, but I so appreciated the leadership lessons she shared using scriptures and stories from the chapter of Exodus. I especially enjoyed her personal stories and found myself nodding emphatically and highlighting my ebook with abandon. What a joy this book was! It was an especially wonderful treat to have her be the narrator- I just love her comforting voice!
