Historia
This is the story of a man who said that he would stop the motor of the world - and did. Is he a destroyer or a liberator? Why does he fight his hardest battle not against his enemies, but against the woman he loves? Tremendous in scope, breathtaking in its suspense, Atlas Shrugged is Ayn Rand's magnum opus and launched an ideology and a movement. With the publication of this work in 1957, Rand gained an instant following and became a phenomenon.

Rand delivers as much now as 40 years ago
Revisado: 09-08-08
This book lives somewhere in my floating top ten. It is high time americans rediscover Rand's pusuit of quality of life and the materials that populate our lives. This recording is extremely well read, inspirational and worth every minute.

Historia
Just why do humpback whales sing? That's the question that has marine behavioral biologist Nate Quinn and his crew poking, charting, recording, and photographing very big, wet, gray marine mammals - until the extraordinary day when a whale lifts its tail into the air to display a cryptic message spelled out in foot-high letters: Bite Me.

Moore Better
Revisado: 09-08-08
Christopher Moore's wit is unparalleled, well maybe, but the early Fluke does not disapoint. I laughed outloud at the audio format as much as at the printed version, it is substantially well performed. If you were disappointed by You Suck, maybe you don't get it. Fluke is, like Lamb, a Moore humor pinnacle.

Median Koontz

A really good Koontzian mystery cum sci-fi thriller, though it does not live up to earlier works in the character development department. See Christopher Snow (Fear Nothing, Seize the Night) for example.

Historia
One night when he was 10, Tyler stood in his backyard and watched the stars go out. They flared into brilliance, then disappeared, replaced by an empty black barrier. He and his best friends, Jason and Diane Lawton, had seen what became known as the Big Blackout. It would shape their lives.

Spin is a fantastic modern example of the genre. Wilson spins an humanist account of the world in its trials and hopes and nails the balance of fantastic tech and contemporary knowledge.

Demons in the Spring is a collection of 20 short stories by Joe Meno, author of the smash hits The Boy Detective Fails and Hairstyles of the Damned. In these stories, oddly modern moments occur in the most familiar of public places.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 09-08-08
Although some of the stories in this book are fascinating character studies, I was, on the whole, left flat. Meno's prosaic style, while interesting, would better suite a more developed treatise.
