Historia
Davis Reed is plagued by the three A's: anger, alcohol, and anxiety. A former Charleston police officer turned private detective, Davis hopes to gain some respect, self and otherwise, by writing a book. His subject? The true story of a B-25 bomber that crashed on Cold Mountain in western North Carolina just after the end of World War II. From the comfort of a mountain cabin in Cruso, North Carolina, Davis spends his days popping anti-anxiety pills, drinking copious amounts of home-brewed beer, and not writing.

Felt like I knew the characters

A great southern mystery. Dale is the perfect sidekick/friend/kinfolk. I thought it perfectly represented the low country as well as almost any southern country town. Great story, narration, and it all wrapped up neatly and believably. Just a great story.

Historia
A call for help from a former colleague leads Maine game warden investigator Mike Bowditch and his girlfriend Stacey Stevens on a sea kayaking trip to a research station far off the coast. Stacey spent summers interning on the island, a sanctuary for endangered seabirds, and they are shocked by the atmosphere of tension they encounter when they come ashore. The biologists are being threatened and stalked by a mysterious boatman who they suspect is trespassing on the refuge late at night.

A decent story ruined by " woke " bs!

Started out ok, then came all the stupid liberal talking points. Of course racist is thrown in there, along with all kinds of stereotypes and condescending comments about whatever the author doesn't like. Putting down people for smoking Swisher sweets? Having a married dude with gay lovers, whatever, but then call him a rapist and a monster before any proof is found? Everybody is so sensitive and offended, it just stinks to high heaven.Very hard to get through this one. If this series is going to continue to be infected with this sick liberal garbage I will just have to find something else.
