Spenser on the cusp
Revisado: 05-04-22
Enjoyed the novel. I had not read it in awhile, so it was like reading /hearing for first time. Very good novel. Very good performance. Spenser handles love problems for a couple and handles personal love issues. All the while handling guns and zealots.

Historia
A razor-sharp thinker offers a new understanding of our post-truth world and explains the American instinct to believe in make-believe, from the Pilgrims to P. T. Barnum to Disneyland to zealots of every stripe...to Donald Trump. In this sweeping, eloquent history of America, Kurt Andersen demonstrates that what's happening in our country today - this strange, post-factual, "fake news" moment we're all living through - is not something entirely new, but rather the ultimate expression of our national character and path.

Rarely do I give a book 5 stars, and while this one is not perfect, it is worth your time if you want to put a frame around the craziness of today. To comprehend the Fantasy Industrial Complex that is so much of America today, this book will provide guidance as to how we got here.

Historia
Eight years ago Moose Malloy and cute little redhead Velma were getting married - until someone framed Malloy for armed robbery. Now his stretch is up and he wants Velma back. PI Philip Marlow meets Malloy one hot day in Hollywood and, out of the generosity of his jaded heart, agrees to help him. Dragged from one smoky bar to another, Marlowe's search for Velma turns up plenty of dangerous gangsters with a nasty habit of shooting first and talking later.

Historia
Meditations is a series of personal writings by Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor from 161 to 180 AD, recording his private notes to himself and ideas on Stoic philosophy. The Meditations is divided into 12 books that chronicle different periods of Marcus' life. Each book is not in chronological order and it was written for no one but himself. The style of writing that permeates the text is one that is simplified, straightforward, and perhaps reflecting Marcus' Stoic perspective on the text.

Good to have , at times hard to understand
Revisado: 01-24-20
An interesting book, but often difficult to comprehend because of the very formal language construction. I know written Latin was very formal in construction and therefore, this may be a faithful translation. I think, though, that it might have been more helpful if it was more toward the essence of what is being said and less toward the form. In the end, I am glad to have a copy.
