Historia
What if you could cultivate the mind of a bodhisattva -- one who has dedicated one's life to the benefit of others? According to Pema Chödrön, best-selling author and American-born Buddhist nun, you can. On Bodhisattva Mind, she examines sheshin, or "guarding alertness", and the other qualities of mind we need to develop on the path to enlightenment.

My first book by Pema Chodron and I am so happy I have finally listened to one.
I have nearly finished Noble Heart by Pema as well which I bought after listening to this Bodhisattva Mind book. Very good teacher. Has helped myself discover new ways to look at different Buddhist meditation practices. And I will for sure buy more books in the future.
Pema has a great humour with a calmness when explaining the dharma. So thank you Pema for your teachings.
For myself in my journey of study and practice, the one main thing Pema taught me straight away was how important it is to have a calm mind. From the calm mind, clarity arises with insight and also the heart will open.
Pema is a true Gem.

Historia
This landmark collection is the definitive introduction to the Buddha's teachings - in his own words. The American scholar-monk Bhikkhu Bodhi, whose voluminous translations have won widespread acclaim, here presents selected discourses of the Buddha from the Pali Canon, the earliest record of what the Buddha taught. Divided into 10 thematic chapters, In the Buddha's Words reveals the full scope of the Buddha's discourses, from family life and marriage to renunciation and the path of insight.

I found this very easy to digest and put into my mind for contemplating the discourses.
It is an invaluable book which for myself I feel I have to listen too again and possibly again to keep digesting as my knowledge and practice grows.
Fantastic work by Bikkhu Bodhi.
I listened to this book after the 3 Joseph Goldstein Mindfulness volumes. Now I am leaning back towards purchasing a Stephen Batchelor book to further my studies. Or re listening too Rethinking the Dharma for a secular age. Complimented by a Bodhi college
4 noble truths course.

Deepen your Mindfulness knowledge. Great teacher.
Revisado: 07-07-17
This book is my first introduction to Joseph Goldstein. As a meditator this book is very helpful as Joseph clearly describes how sensations in the body arise and pass and how it influences our mind state. Pausing and observing and not reacting instantly leads to deeper understanding of our own body.
Joseph explains Gautama's Dharma on Mindfulness in a clear, interesting and engaging way. This book has helped reinforce my previous learning experiences on Mindfulness. I have been going from different guided meditations lately but the guided meditations from Oxford Mindfulness Centre combined with listening to Joseph's book has enriched the experience for me.
Currently I am listening to Vol.2
And after that Vol. 3
A pleasure listening so far and thankful for Audible and of Joseph Goldstein's teachings.
I feel like I have laid more solid foundations in my practice and studies having had the help of this book.
Definitely worth the purchase.

Invaluable guide to Mindfulness
Revisado: 10-20-16
This course has fantastic information on practicing mindfulness. Professor Mark Muesse also gives guided meditations on the body scan, mindful eating, mindful walking, breathing.
I have found his advise the best yet on how to approach and practice meditation. It is a course I have went back to for referencing. Personally I found his body scan mediation the best guided mediation anywhere I have found online. And I have good apps and websites to practice mediation.

Good engaging narration from Edoardo Ballerini. Fantastic explanation on what mindfulness is all about. I would say a must listen/read for anyone to understand mindfulness.
I finished this book in 3 days. But it is a book you will want to and probably need to read again.
A solid foundation book on mindfulness. One that you will cherish for ever.
