Disappointing, same tone as other novels By Author
Revisado: 04-26-25
Some of the writing is just awful - "the creatue crushed their heads like acorns".
Betrayal and stupid choices by lead characters make the story seem ridiculous at times.
Ok to pass the time - but nothing I would ever listen to again, and not that imaginative. HIs portrayal of other creatures as mostly less intelligent than humans (and often just impulsive or stupid) is also disappointing.

Multiple religious references. What a let down.
Revisado: 08-31-22
This book had so much potential but the author chose a lazy and unimaginative way to tell us about the monster by using the biblical story of "Jonah and the Whale". Many of the characters who interact with the monster became religious and bible verses are scattered throughout. If the author had attributed the origins of Kronos to something such as genetic manipulation or a twist of evolution, the story could have been interesting and believable. Instead he chose to explain nothing, expecting the reader to assume everything that happened was because of God.
The narrator was good except for the sound of boredom he projected at the end of every sentence.

Do yourself a favor, don't get this book
Revisado: 06-01-22
If you're on the fence about getting this book, don't. The writing is bad, the cliches are abundant as well as the religious references about God and church. The author's attempt to mention how "women can do anything better than most men", manages to to come across as trite and as if he doesn't believe his own words. There are bits and pieces that are interesting but they are surpassed by the juvenile and stilted writing, almost as if two different people were writing. I found myself rolling my eyes over and over. The only redeeming quality this book has is the fantastic narration of RC Bray. Sadly, his narration is wasted on this author's incredibly bad writing.

Narration is AWFUL, and the story jumps all around
Revisado: 11-09-19
I tried to listen to this book, but the narrator is SOOO BORING, with a monotone voicing. This makes the jumping around of the story between characters very hard to follow. Just Say No!

Self aware AI
Revisado: 08-24-19
This is a well written believable story about the world becoming dependent upon AI and how that can be a good thing but can also be the very opposite. The narration was excellent, with characters both human and AI being both interesting and flawed. Although the story didn't end on a cliffhanger it did leave a few questions unanswered leaving room for a sequel.

Great story, fantastic narration
Revisado: 08-24-19
I was hesitant to get this book because of the negative reviews but decided to go ahead and I'm glad I did. I found it to be an interesting story and combined with the excellent narration of Ray Porter made it a winner. So why the negative reviews? This becomes apparent in the afterward where the author explains why he wrote this book. With our divided views regarding climate change you will either agree with the author or not. If you are someone who does not believe in climate change, don't listen to the afterward and you will have enjoyed a great story. If you do believe in climate change, listen to the end.

Historia
A single pair of shipwrecked Viking war dogs evolved into terrifying Apex Predators that ravaged the island unchallenged. Eventually, the breakup of Arctic ice floated a few of the beasts to the North Slope of Alaska. There, they faced the valiant townspeople of Chintikook Village. Along with a boyish paleontologist and the local schoolteacher, the humans teamed up to battle the attacking creatures they called Super Wolves. It’s an adventure that pits the fangs and claws of giant devil dogs against the wits and bravery of a small group of townspeople who don’t know how to give up.

Very enjoyable story
Revisado: 08-20-19
I found this book to be both original, believable and entertaining. It drew me right in. The story and characters were well developed and it was interesting to hear what living above the arctic circle is like. The book has two story lines which flow together seamlessly and allows you to understand how the "creatures" developed. I felt the narration was only average and didn't quite do justice to the storytelling. I would have loved to hear a little more emotion in the reading. Even so, I would highly recommend this book.
I received a free audio copy of this book at my request by the publisher, this in no way affected my review.
