Historia
A rare hybrid of vampire and werewolf, Riley Jenson and her twin brother, Rhoan, work for Melbourne's Directorate of Other Races, an organization created to police the supernatural races and protect humans from their depredations. While Rhoan is an exalted guardian, a.k.a. assassin, Riley is merely an office worker, until her brother goes missing on one of his missions. The timing couldn't be worse.

Liked the premise not a fan of erotic genre though
Revisado: 01-03-23
I’m glad I gave the book a try it has some interesting world building and it does leave me wanting to know where the story will go. Just not a big fan of erotic books or at least I need to read more of them to have a better idea of how sex is portrayed in other books. Also this book gives new meaning to the song “Hungry Like A Wolf.”

Historia
Contrary to popular opinion, vampires are not sexy, romantic, or powerful. In case you hadn’t noticed, vampires are dead. And the only ones who don’t get staked are the ones who avoid attacking people, admit they have a problem, and join a support group. Just ask Nina Harrison - fanged at 15, and still living with her mother. She hasn’t aged since 1973, and the highlight of her sickly, couch-bound life is probably her Tuesday-night group meeting, which she spends with a miserable bunch of fellow sufferers, being lectured at.

A different kind of vampire
Revisado: 07-21-22
I really like the tone at the beginning of the book it reminds me of what we do in shadows. I think it’s cuz of the ||variety of the ages in the cast and the book takes place in Australia so it’s nice hearing the audiobook cuz the narrator has an Australian accent, I’m not sure if it’s authentic or not (I assume it is, it’s subtle and not exaggerated) also I love how it establishes the rules of the vampire and they talk about it. I also really like how these vampires ||aren’t glamourous, or “sexy” if anything most of them are/were normal people and get by in a lot of ways the way they describe their condition ||it almost feels like a disability.
I can’t remember how this quote from book is so I’m pulling from memory.
being a vampire is like being sick all the time and spend your day watching mindless television and you’re too sick to get out of bed.

Great Vampire Story
Revisado: 04-24-22
The books starts off kinda slow and boring, mostly because the prelude was really good and brought the tone but than it goes into the townspeople. Which I get why it did that but I found it boring. Once the main character realized about vampires being the issue it got really interesting as did the characters.

Boring Story but GREAT Narrator
Revisado: 08-05-21
I found this book pretty boring. It got interesting once it went into a different world but most of the time it’s just the characters monologuing their sadness which wouldn’t be a bad thing but it goes on and on and I want it to move on. Nice book cover and great narrator but boring story

Well Written
Revisado: 05-13-21
I really enjoyed this YA vampire book. The author handled the issues of families dealing with terminal illness well. It’s also great that we got to listen to a short essay of the author’s thought process when she made this book. I don’t wanna give too much away but I genuinely enjoyed the protagonist she was well written and flawed, she felt like an actual teenager.
