Historia
What would happen to a liberal's mind if he subsisted entirely on conservative media and rhetoric? That's what critically acclaimed political humorist, NPR commentator, and McSweeney's contributor John Moe sets out to learn in Conservatize Me.

This explains so much
Revisado: 08-09-10
I spent years trying to fit into a conservative world, and it just made me crazy. Listening to Moe’s experience of trying to force himself into the world of conservatism I understood why. The harder he tried the more hostile he became. No matter how hard he tried to focus on simple “family values” his intellect rebelled. After awhile it just hurts “physically and psychically” to continue trying to make the complicated difficult world simple.

Historia
Meet Peter Brown, a young Manhattan emergency room doctor with an unusual past that is just about to catch up with him. His morning begins with the quick disarming of a would-be mugger, followed by a steamy elevator encounter with a sexy young pharmaceutical rep, topped off by a visit with a new patient - and from there Peter's day is going to get a whole lot worse and a whole lot weirder.

Good, but not for the squeamish or self-righteous
Revisado: 05-23-10
Bazell's style is brash bordering on poetic. He grabs your attention and never lets go with an equally endearing and unnerving anti-hero who drops the f-bomb in ways that are truly creative yet loves with unreserved devotion. However, brace yourself for gore and violence on a scale that makes Steven King look like a debutante. What is worse though, is that Bazell describes the circumstances and his main character with a grudging sympathy that slips past his reader's moral-guards to make them see the world and heart of Peter Brown in a way which makes all of his acts of gruesome violence seem entirely reasonable if not laudable. You will come away thoroughly entertained, a little grossed out and slightly worried for your own soul.
