Historia
The title of this novel is a combination of two Sanskrit words, “siddha,” which is defined as “achieved,” and “artha” which is defined as “meaning” or “wealth.” The word serves as the name for the principal character, a man on a spiritual journey of self-discovery during the time of the first Buddha. Siddhartha is the son of a wealthy Brahmin family who decides to leave his home in the hopes of gaining spiritual illumination. Siddhartha is joined by his best friend Govinda.

The flow if life in it’s many ways
Revisado: 08-10-24
Siddhartha beautifully describes the journey of not only one man but others as well. It stimulates life changing thoughts and many women in our book group felt it was as powerful today as it was in the 1960’S when they first read it. The narrator did a wonderful job. Her cadence and tone was perfect.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Happy they are free.
Revisado: 08-03-23
Can’t imagine growing up defenseless and then being turned upon. His detailed recall is that of a person experiencing PTSD from trauma.
The monarchy never defending or protecting one another just to keep their livelihood coming in is fertile ground for the ultimate dysfunction. It began unraveling before Harry was ever born. Happy he and Meghan are free from that disaster, however it happened. Only wished Diana had. I wish them well.

Historia
This Side of Alcohol is borne out of the cathartic journaling I did during the first two years following my break-up with alcohol. It tells the story of what I did to get and stay sober, allowing me to transform my shame, guilt, and anger into self-compassion, self-discovery, and forgiveness—of myself and others. From self-loathing isolation to a joyous community of support and rediscovered intimacy with my family.

Heartfelt and authentic
Revisado: 10-31-22
I have watched, followed and read about Peggi’s journey over the last three years. In fact as I began my sober journey it was some of her authentic and raw postings in a sober group that not only captivated me but felt like a hand reaching out to me to come along side of her, giving me hope and strength. Her book is a result of her commitment to her daily posts, which is a very unique approach to helping others know they are not alone in their pain, as she navigates her path truly one-day-at-a-time. I love that Peggi is willing to fearlessly share her intimate stories to help others. I am so excited for this to now be in audiobook form and even more excited that she is the narrator. I hope you too are moved by her words and I hope to see you in the Facebook group by the same name.

Historia
There is nothing more essential to our health and well-being than breathing. Yet, as a species, humans have lost the ability to breathe correctly, with grave consequences. Journalist James Nestor travels the world to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. The answers aren’t found in pulmonology labs, as we might expect, but in the muddy digs of ancient burial sites, secret Soviet facilities, New Jersey choir schools, and the smoggy streets of São Paulo. Nestor tracks down men and women exploring the hidden science behind ancient breathing practices.

Wow, fascinating!
Revisado: 01-15-22
So much history, research and wisdom had been offered in this one book. I can’t recommend it often enough and actually do! It opened a treasure trove of information that has not only improved my breathing experience as an sufferer of asthma, but also with my knowledge on ways to improve my overall health with breath.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Brave, honest, hilarious
Revisado: 11-30-20
Mr. McConaughey lets it all hang out...all the bits and pieces, nothing irreverent, it can’t be because it’s his and his alone to share. Love hearing his voice read his book, it made it all the more meaningful and authentic, as if, if someone is going to tell these details it would be him that would give each word their due placement and inflection. The books is chock full of great life lessons and kuddos to him for keeping it transcribed to share.

Historia
In a culture where sipping "rosé all day" is seen as the epitome of relaxation, "grabbing a drink" the only way to network; and meeting at a bar the quintessential "first date", many of us are left wondering if drinking alcohol really is the only way to cultivate joy and connection in life. Jardine Libaire and Amanda Eyre Ward wanted to live spontaneous and luxurious lives, to escape the ordinary and enjoy the intoxicating. Their drinking, however, had started to numb them to the present moment instead of unlocking it.

This could have simply been called Lush Living
Revisado: 07-18-20
Even if you’re not currently seeking sobriety or maybe you’ve already reached sobriety, Amanda and Jardines stories invite you on a joy-ride of sense-driven experiences that will open your mind to seeking a more fulfilled life. The freedom they share here is not that of hanging on white knuckled until hopefully alcohol mysteriously disappeared from their desired list, but rather an intentional opening of their taste buds, new delightful ways to see and experience life all over—soberly. Their tales will give you ideas, maybe even challenge you a little and definitely leave you wanting a bigger outcome than simply walking away from drinking. You’ll never experience anything quite the same, which is exactly why I turned away from alcohol, to run forward into living fully.
I’m always wary of books narrated by someone other than the author(s). Eileens reading instantly welcomes us as if she is one of the authors. Her intonation and familiarity of the words come off as if she’s had a front row seat to everyone of Amanda and Jardines experiences. She made it so easy to melt into the book from the first line. Really the best narrator I’ve ever heard.
