Historia
When Danielle Boatman inherits Marlow House, she dreams of turning it into a seaside bed and breakfast. Since she's never visited the property, Danielle's not sure what awaits her in Oregon. She certainly doesn't expect to find one of the house's previous owners still in residence. After all, the man has been dead for almost 90 years - shouldn't he have moved on by now? Charming Walt Marlow convinces Danielle the only way he can move on is if she solves the mystery of his death.

Couldn’t stand Walter
Revisado: 11-27-24
I like the main character well enough, and her best friend is also pleasant. I don’t like the voices the narrator did for them though.
I can’t stand Walter. I don’t see how he’s meant to be charming.
I really liked the premise of the book, but I didn’t like the way it was executed. Not my cup of tea.

Historia
Life as a raider in the Wastes, where monsters roam and the military lurks, is as easy as it sounds. I’ve been out here for a long time, and the fear that courses through my blood every time I step outside our camp walls to scavenge never fades. No matter how many monsters you face—and have to run for your life from—it doesn’t ever get easier. But when I come across a bound and injured monster in an abandoned military base, I can’t leave him behind.

Solid performance
Revisado: 06-25-24
I love these novels and own them all in physical copies, audible, and as ebooks. This installment is probably my least favorite of the series as far as plot and the romantic development. I love Ghost and Aurey, just wish they had more development.
Michael Lesley does an amazing job voice acting in this one - as always. Absolutely no complaints from me.

Historia
Bryony and her sisters have come down in the world. Their merchant father died trying to reclaim his fortune and left them to eke out a living in a village far from their home in the city. But when Bryony is caught in a snowstorm and takes refuge in an abandoned manor, she stumbles into a house full of dark enchantments. Is the Beast that lives there her captor or a fellow prisoner? Is the house her enemy or her ally? And why are roses blooming out of season in the courtyard?

Fun retelling
Revisado: 03-22-24
This is a fun retelling of beauty and the beast. I enjoyed the twists/backstory of how beast got stuck here.
I think the part that stuck with me the most is what happened to the servants. We sort of brush past it but it’s terrifying and unsettling. Also, I wasn’t completely certain on the villain’s motives. I took a short nap so maybe I missed it.
Overall, good entertainment.

Historia
My role as Moric—ruler of a small and prosperous fiefdom in a quiet corner of the world—has always been painfully dull and stifling. Until a beautiful, otherworldly creature with pink skin and a mane of golden hair falls through a strange void that has appeared in my guestroom. I am instantly captivated by him. I have never seen anything like him. I have no idea where he came from, and what else is through that unsettling void—another world filled with soft-skinned, defenseless creatures like him? No tails, no horns, no claws, no sharp teeth. Tiny clothing, rounded ears, bright blue eyes.

Strong story
Revisado: 03-18-24
This was an awesome read and listen. When I originally read the book, I wasn’t sure what Lor and Lyri would sound like. So I was totally fine with this interpretation.
Michael Lesley, as always, did a fantastic job at giving each character their own distinct voice.
Lor is my absolute favorite partner in this series. If I could choose one for myself, it would be him. And Seraph would be my baby. Jugs, our human himbo is a nice guy. My only critique is I wish he felt/came off as more devoted to Lor. It sorta feels like he really likes him but isn’t in love or attached in a deeper way. I think his side of the story needed a little tweaking - I couldn’t stop feeling like he didn’t deserve Lor’s unflinching devotion, but that might just be me. This is still one of my faves from this series. Lor was really put through the wringer. I highly recommend. I can’t wait for the next installment!!

Historia
I've already mentally prepared myself to kill the screaming, murderous monster in the cage outside our camp. I'm used to it. It's what I do here. Kill monsters and other people. This monster, Seraph, is particularly unstable—has been since the moment he arrived from Collector Mary's monster menagerie to the west, where the military stashed him away. He's in pain. I can see it. But he's not a mindless beast. Not like some of the others think. When I start guarding him in his cage every night, I begin to see the person beneath the agony that tortures his every waking moment.

My fave so far
Revisado: 02-23-24
Michael Lesley and I are finally on the same page. He voiced Seraph PERFECTLY. I was a little concerned because other reviews were saying he sounded like Dobby. That is wholly untrue. Seraph has a particular speech pattern - lots of stuttering and chuffing and hesitancy. Michael nailed Seraph’s voice. What I heard in my head while reading is what Michael put forth in his narration. I cannot tell you how happy that made me. Seraph is my precious baby and I’m so happy to hear his voice read to me as I imagined him. If I could give Michael an award for this performance, I would.
Lilac on the other hand, I did not like at first. His voice at normal speed is cringy to me. Like he’s high out of his mind and he talks so painfully slow. So I played the audiobook at 1.2x speed and voila - perfection. I enjoyed every narrated moment after that.
There’s a lot of our human and beastie characters from the previous books together in this book and Michael kept up with voicing each person so well, despite the many changes of speakers in several sections. Truly talented.
As far as the actual novel, Seraph is among my top 2, along with Moth. Followed by Gloam. I resonate with the relationships the most in those. I adore this series. It has fantastic world building and phenomenal relationship development.
10/10 would recommend.

Historia
When I—along with my best friend and his big purple monster boyfriend—come across a fortress-like raider camp while journeying across the monster-infested Wastes, we stop to deliver a message. Somehow, that simple pit stop turns into a seemingly impossible quest to get this camp's missing leader out of the prison where he's being held and forced to fight monsters and other humans. I know exactly where it is because I've been there. Problem is, I'm making this journey with the prickliest and most arrogant guy I've ever met, who seems to hate me on sight. Oh, and he's also half-monster.

I adore this series
Revisado: 02-21-24
This is one of my favorite series. I read the books first before deciding on wanting them on audio.
The narrator is good at making the voices of the main cast distinct. That said, I don’t like all the characters’ voices. But it must be difficult to make and keep up so many distinct voices in an interconnected series like this so it’s fine. The hardest voices to get used to thus far are Hunter and Charlie’s. Basically, in my head their voices are swapped. Hunter is super tall and bigger so he has the deeper timbre. I couldn’t get used to hearing the narrators’s voice for Hunter in book 2. In this book my brain finally got more used hearing his Charlie voice. So minor thing really - just a personal take on what I imagined while reading to what the narrator imagined. That goes for several other characters. But that’s just artistic differences.
Overall, good narration and fabulous story. I adore Moth and Charlie’s relationship.

Loved it
Revisado: 01-29-24
Lesbian romance in the Old West? Yes, please. It was a great ride beginning to end with good pacing in the romance and plot development department. Also, there were stakes to lose - and even though I was pretty sure the story wasn’t going to go there - I was genuinely terrified for Luke. Would read again, and I do recommend.

Historia
From New York Times best-selling author Stephen Graham Jones comes a novel that is equal parts psychological horror and cutting social commentary on identity politics and the American-Indian experience. Fans of Jordan Peele and Tommy Orange will love this story as it follows the lives of four American-Indian men and their families, all haunted by a disturbing, deadly event that took place in their youth. Years later, they find themselves tracked by an entity bent on revenge, totally helpless as the culture and traditions they left behind catch up to them in a vengeful way.
