Historia
In the wake of a devastating attack, an amnesty has been declared for all Augurs - finally allowing them to emerge from hiding and openly oppose the dark forces massing against the land of Andarra. As the Augur Davian and his new allies hurry north toward the ever-weakening Boundary, however, fresh horrors along their path suggest that their reprieve may have come far too late. His ally in the Capital, the new Northwarden, contends with assassins and politicians and uncovers a dangerous political secret.

A fresh new series with new ideas
Revisado: 04-01-25
What can I say? I liked it enough to have already started putting dent in the second book, the next book of the series that should tell you everything. I only needed a quick palate cleanser in between books which is usually something of a comic relief Terry Pratchett disc world book.

Historia
Kalian Gaines has a secret; he just doesn't know it yet. He looks like us, he lives like us...but he is not one of us. Kalian knows nothing outside of his mundane life teaching history on 30th-century Earth, until a day like any other triggers a series of events that will tie his fate to that of humanity. A human handprint, embedded into a rock with alien script, is discovered on a moon that mankind has never set foot on. This discovery holds a secret, which will sweep Kalian into the heart of a conspiracy that has corrupted the galaxy for 200,000 years.

It was ok
Revisado: 03-04-25
It was ok. It was one of those books that gets exciting near the end but even though they tried to get you excited all the way it just took that long to feel any excitement for the characters. Plus there was some nonsensical content. You could tell the author was a Star Trek fan and that’s fine so am I but he chose to follow in the footsteps of Roddenberry on one item that just stretches one’s ability to suspend one’s disbelief. The use of Photon based weapons. Pure silliness. Then the author is trying to keep the narrative on a one week long timeframe. It’s not believable given the characteristics of the characters involved to go through such large personality swings in such a short time. I felt the believability was sacrificed in order to make the narrative faster. I read another review where the reviewer tried to say that this author was on par with Ian M Bank and another author I’ve read the complete works of. Maybe Sanderson? Not even close on both counts

So very philosophical
Revisado: 12-09-24
I just chuckled to myself as my idea for a review is quite fitting. My first thoughts upon finishing the book was to say simply that this book was more philosophic than any of the Terry Pratchett books I’ve read thus far. A very fitting thought for this particular book.

Forty thousand years ago, humanity fled a dying Earth. Traveling in massive arkships, these brave pioneers spread out across the galaxy to find a new home. After traveling thousands of light-years, one fleet of arkships arrived at Centauri, a dense cluster of stars with a vast array of potentially habitable planets. The survivors of Earth signaled to the remaining arkships that humanity had finally found its new home among the stars.

I’ll read the next book, if grudgingly
Revisado: 12-07-24
A “sort of”spoiler alert, no specifics but some people might not like exposing the way the story goes.
Quite a long book to just end up with a lack of an ending. I did enjoy it to a point, having the whole thing end with a massive cliffhanger is a bit annoying though .
I’ve enjoyed a lot of this author’s books but I am starting to get tired of the detective story narrative that makes up about half of this one。
I did give this one four stars though, and I will read the next book of the series because I need the closure

Historia
Death has been fired by the Auditors of Reality for the heinous crime of developing…a personality. Sent to live like everyone else, Death takes a new name and begins working as a farmhand. He's got the scythe already, after all. And for humanity, Death is just…gone. Which leads to the kind of chaos you always get when an important public service is withdrawn. If Death doesn't come for you, then what are you supposed to do in the meantime? You can't have the undead wandering about like lost souls—there's no telling what might happen.

Fun yet Touching
Revisado: 11-27-24
I had been hoping there would be a book about the character of death. Sounds a little morbid, I guess but regardless, I think this was the best Terry Pratchett book ever.
Like most of them..,what am I saying? Like all of them! I was constantly having a little giggle about this or that. Reading Terry Pratchett is always a fun ride. Unlike most though, this one was veritably touching, even poignant. I expect to be entertained by his books, I do not expect to be moved by one.
This was one great read, er, listen. Mr. Pratchett’s attention to detail in his writing was surely carried over when he picked out this awesome team of Narrators for his audiobooks. Fantastic stuff.

This one particularly wacky
Revisado: 11-25-24
I don’t see the point in reviewing or at least me writing a review about Terry Pratchett books as they are all so much fun to read or especially as an audiobook thoroughly enjoyable because the voices are always done so well by narrators. This one was particularly wacky with so many plot twists that you couldn’t keep track of things sometimes. Lots of fun.

Eric is the Discworld's only demonology hacker. Pity he's not very good at it. All he wants is his three wishes granted. Nothing fancy—to be immortal, rule the world, have the most beautiful woman in the world fall madly in love with him, the usual stuff. But instead of a tractable demon, he calls up Rincewind, probably the most incompetent wizard in the universe, and the extremely intractable and hostile form of travel accessory known as the Luggage.
