Historia
When the Knight Bus crashes through the darkness and screeches to a halt in front of him, it's the start of another far from ordinary year at Hogwarts for Harry Potter. Sirius Black, escaped mass-murderer and follower of Lord Voldemort, is on the run - and they say he is coming after Harry. In his first ever Divination class, Professor Trelawney sees an omen of death in Harry's tea leaves... But perhaps most terrifying of all are the Dementors patrolling the school grounds, with their soul-sucking kiss...

Better than the movies!
Revisado: 07-24-22
I loved the Harry Potter series since they came out and the first one was given to my oldest daughter. We bought every book the day it came out waiting in line at midnight with all the other fans. We watched every movie when it came out. The movies were really well done, but so much stuff is left out just due to time. Listening to Jim Dale narrate the Harry Potter series has been a delight. His voices are fabulous and being able to picture images from the movie in my mind as I listen to him and his voices makes it seem like I am watching the complete book being played out. My very favorite audible book series that I’ve boughtbought.

Historia
From award-winning scholar John Bergsma comes an intriguing audiobook that reveals new insights on the Essenes, a radical Jewish community predating Christianity, whose existence, beliefs, and practices are often overlooked in the annuls of history. Bergsma reveals how this Jewish sect directly influenced the beliefs, sacraments, and practices of early Christianity and offers new information on how Christians lived their lives, worshiped, and eventually went on to influence the Roman Empire and Western civilization.

Incredible!
Revisado: 03-28-21
John Bergsma uses his usual in-depth scholarly approach to take a deep dive into the dead sea scrolls, their relationship to the Jewish practices of the day, and the light they shed on Christianity. He manages to take complex theological points and break them down so they are easily understood. Just beautiful, as always.

Historia
Stolen is the true story of one survivor who escaped - more than once. First recruited while staying with her family at a hotel in Miami Beach, Katariina Rosenblatt was already a lonely and abused young girl who was yearning to be loved. She fell into the hands of a confident young woman who pretended friendship but slowly lured her into a child prostitution ring. For years afterward, a cycle of false friendship, threats, drugs, and violence kept her trapped.

Important issue, inspiring witness, but confusing
Revisado: 09-11-18
This is an incredibly important issue, and the author is an incredibly inspiring figure, but the way the story was told was rather confusing to me. It was told in a way that seemed to twist and turn, come to a dramatic development, then just drop and shift to another time. The least compelling part was the actual narration, which is not meant to be a reflection on the narrator. I would have loved to hear this story told by the actual author. This is such a personal story, and highly emotional, with a lot of dialogue, that I wanted to hear the real author, not an actor. The narrator made a valiant attempt to breath life and emotion into the story, but because the story has so many sad and negative elements to it, as she tried to give those elements life, eventually her voice began to sound almost whiny, which I don't think would happen in another book. It was just an unfortunate combination for this audio book. All in all worth listening to, because of the importance of the story and the inspiration of the author, but toward the end, I had to force myself to continue.
