Historia
It starts with a stolen kiss under an English sky, and it ends with a walk down the aisle. It starts with the President sending his best friend to woo me on his behalf, and it ends with my heart split in two. It starts with buried secrets and dangerous desires...and ends with the three of us bound together with a hateful love sharper than any barbed wire. My name is Greer Galloway, and I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States.

Should come with a explicit warning
Revisado: 09-28-23
The description sounded good and it had a lot of good reviews. Unfortunately, I looked at the star rating not all of the details. I liked the narrator, and I was intrigued by the plot. But this is and S&M novel, and is very very graphic. I wanted to know what the big mystery was, but I could not sit through any more of the graphic sex scenes in gratuitous use of c word, and pretty much any other dirty word you could think of that you wouldn’t want the lady at the drive-through to hear, or any one else. I am by no means a prude, but there was more gratuitous excruciatingly graphically explained sex scenes than other story.

Historia
The Cheyenne Police Department doesn't handle many murders. So when a woman is found mutilated and crucified, detective Kyle Dixon catches a case where all the evidence has long since been destroyed. Any detective would find it a difficult investigation, but to make matters worse, Dixon is paired with Ethan Baudin: a new detective in the unit who doesn't believe the law should apply to those that chase monsters. They find that the murder is connected to a rash of fraternity rapes and the case becomes highly publicized and politically charged.

Just not good
Revisado: 01-24-23
I don’t often write reviews, but this book was just bad. The narration wasn’t the best, and the story seem to be written by an adolescent boy. After the fourth time I heard about the lead character waking up in the morning with his wife with a “Boner” I tried to return it, but realized I couldn’t, because I actually paid for it. If you are an avid reader this one probably isn’t for you.

New York City was filled with excitement, and the media had hyped the event as happening once in a hundred years. It happened before, and it was happening again. As the power grid failed, the Big Apple exploded as the thin veneer of civilization was laid bare as man fought one another for survival.

Great story, ruined by authors, blatant racism
Revisado: 12-21-22
Fantastic narrator. The story could have been fantastic, but the author can’t help insert his political and frankly racist viewpoints. I’ve noticed an increase in this in Mr. Ackart books, which is too bad. Excellent stories, but you can’t talk about entire groups of people in a hateful way the way he does. If you are not a conservative, who is against all groups other than White men you might want to skip these books. I wish it had been more clear early on because I would have stopped sooner.

Too many racist words
Revisado: 10-27-22
I know this book was written in a different era but I cannot get past the first few minutes. The use of an unacceptable racial term was used repeatedly and excessively. Love the author but can’t get past this. I never would have purchased if I knew. Be warned.

Glad I purchased
Revisado: 09-24-21
I was hesitant to purchase this audiobook after reading the complaints about the narrator. She has a very distinctive voice but I think it adds to the story and was a wonderful performance. This was a good listen and it was only enhanced by the narration. If you’re thinking twice about it don’t let other reviews about bad narration steer you away!

Nothing redeeming in this book. Don’t waste a credit. Even if it is free don’t bother.
Revisado: 02-28-19
I have no idea how this book received any good ratings or how it was a book club selection. The characters are not likable. The story is pretty flat and just not interesting. And at times there are racial references that I found inappropriate. I have listened to many books that have had racial references that we’re done well, related to the story or part of the storyline. I kept listening waiting for a redeeming quality because of the reviews and because it was a book club selection. I was extremely disappointed I do not recommend this book. The narrator did a good job with very little to work with.

A nice easy read… My only issue was
Revisado: 06-13-17
The narrators voice did not match the written description or feeling of the main character. There's a fine line between over narrating and being too bland. In this case I felt like the narrator was far too dramatic in her tone is in describing somebody that was not written to be so. Her variation of the main character made her seem much older than she was described to be. The narrator sounds like a much more mature person with dentures. I will say she did an excellent job of the other characters she just is not who I would've picked for the main character. It really did it distract from my enjoyment of this book. I found myself getting annoyed at the dramatics. Other than that the story was a nice easy read. Entertaining... no major surprises but what I would consider a nice summer beach read.

I can't get past the overdramatic narration
Revisado: 10-17-16
The story of this book interests me but the narrator is so horrible and overdramatic that I cannot possibly continue it. Any semblance of a good story is overshadowed by horrific narration. It is honestly the worst narration of any book I have ever heard. The narrator sounds much older than the character and I can't stress enough how overdramatic and distracting it is from the story and the characters.

Glad I didn't pay full price
Revisado: 09-27-16
The performance of this book was outstanding. The narrator brought a number of characters and accents to life quite believably. His telling of the story made characters who were quite unlikable likable. If it wasn't for his storytelling I would have stopped listening earlier. There was however far too much graphic sex for my taste. I found myself having to fast-forward way too often. It was just too much. The bad deeds of the characters were also a little bit too much for me. It does and I'm a bit of a cliffhanger so I wonder if there will be another book. I don't like that it wasn't wrapped up a little bit better because I don't think I could listen to a sequel well with such characters that had no redeeming qualities

Unlikable characters make this tough to listen to
Revisado: 08-15-16
The performance of this book was fine.
The problem is that I can't even get halfway through it. I thought it would be a simple summer read but all of the main characters are so unlikable that I find myself annoyed by listening. One unlikable character is to be expected but four unlikable main characters make you want to wring their necks for complaining and being ungrateful all the time makes this an unenjoyable book
