Historia
The extraordinary life of the woman behind the beloved children's classics Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny comes alive in this fascinating biography of Margaret Wise Brown. Margaret's books have sold millions of copies all over the world, but few people know that she was at the center of a children's book publishing revolution.

HATED - read the other biography
Revisado: 12-05-24
I mainly hated that it seemed like the author was obsessed with the fact that this woman was white and blue eyed and thin and blonde and rich and fancy. It isn’t interesting, but it is mildly offensive. She spent the whole time breathlessly detailing how the subject of the book did a bunch of things that came from privilege without examining that privilege at all. There is another biography of her available. I hear it is much better. Read that instead

Historia
If it’s navel-gazing you’re after, you’ve come to the wrong place; ditto treacly self-examination. Rather, his observations turn outward: a fight between two men on a bus, a fight between two men on the street, pedestrians being whacked over the head or gathering to watch as a man considers leaping to his death. There’s a dirty joke shared at a book signing, then a dirtier one told at a dinner party - lots of jokes here. Plenty of laughs.

Fantastic as ever especially as an audiobook
Revisado: 11-26-21
David Sedaris is one of the few authors that I vastly prefer to read his own work (Tracey Ullman is also very funny). As a reader, my timing and emphasis never are able to hit in the way that he can. He is a wonderful and writer and, between this and ‘theft by finding’ I am enjoying having a chronological timeline in which to place the stories of his past books.
