Historia
Throughout history, technological change — whether it takes the form of agricultural improvements in the Middle Ages, the Industrial Revolution, or today’s artificial intelligence — has been viewed as a main driver of prosperity, working in the public interest. The reality, though, is that technology is shaped by what powerful people want and believe, generating riches, social respect, cultural prominence, and further political voice for those already powerful. For most of the rest of us, there is the illusion of progress.

Great book. I definitely would recommend. Only issue is that the second half was like propaganda for the Democratic Party. The authors fail to mention any of the benefits tech has provided- only the negatives

Historia
Beginning in the 1950s, America entered a period of unprecedented social reform. This remarkable book demonstrates how the social programs of the 1960s and ’70s had the unintended and perverse effect of slowing and even reversing earlier progress in reducing poverty, crime, ignorance, and discrimination. Using widely understood and accepted data, it conclusively demonstrates that the amalgam of reforms from 1965 to 1970 actually made matters worse.

Eye opening!

This finally answers for me all the questions I’ve had about human behavior for different classes. He uses a scientific approach to break down all the possibilities of what could cause the different effects. Extremely well done. I would love to see him update this for the present time using more recent trends. It’s a bit hard to understand at times as his voice cuts out.

Boomers are narcissists. Millennials are spoiled. Gen Zers are lazy. We assume people born around the same time have basically the same values. It makes for good headlines, but is it true? Bobby Duffy has spent years studying generational distinctions. In this book, he argues that our generational identities are not fixed but fluid, reforming throughout our lives.

Great overall book. I found it a bit too detailed for what I was looking for but it’s chock full of great data

What goes up, must come down. As any student of financial history knows, the dizzying heights of the stock market can't continue indefinitely - especially since asset prices have been artificially inflated by investor optimism around the Trump administration, ruinously low interest rates, and the infiltration of behavioral economics into our financial lives. The elites are prepared, but what's the average investor to do?

Excellent but hard to hear

Great book but the author really should have used a professional reader. He’s hard to understand. I had to slow it down and I still had issues.

Why is Red Bull so popular, though everyone—everyone!—hates the taste? Humans are, in a word, irrational, basing decisions as much on subtle external signals (that little blue can) as on objective qualities (flavor, price, quality). The surrounding world, meanwhile, is irreducibly complex and random. This means future success can’t be projected on any accounting spreadsheet. To strike gold, you must master the dark art and curious science of conjuring irresistible ideas: alchemy.

Great subject matter

This book has great material, especially for those in marketing, product development or market reasearxh like myself. However it’s kind of a ramble- there not a lot of organization . He junmps from idea to idea often on the same point so it feels to go on and on. A great read for those interested in behavioral economics.

Just the facts
Revisado: 08-21-17
I was expecting something more thought provoking and maybe highlights of lessons learned or implications for the future, but really what this is is a data packed review of historical events. I liked it, but it wasn't nearly as interesting as I hoped. The narrator is pretty weak in my opinion. She sounds like one of those automated voices on the phone. She seems to accent the wrong words making her sound like he's not paying attention to what she's reading.
