Always interesting. Enjoy the characters.

I've heard about half of Camilleri's works. They are all interesting and give much local color.

Historia
Private investigator Lance Kruger was just a boy when his father vanished twenty-three years ago. Since then he's lived under the weight of that disappearance - until his father's car is finally dredged up from the bottom of Grey Lake. It should be a time for closure, except for the skeleton found in the trunk. A missing person case gone cold has become one of murder, and Lance and attorney Morgan Dane must face the deadly past that's risen to the surface.

Too much violence.

Had to stop mid audio due to incident with daughter's hair pulling. Not my cup of tea, but maybe others like the intensity.

Historia
No outsiders are ever admitted to the monastery of Saint-Gilbert-Entre-les-Loups, hidden deep in the wilderness of Quebec, where two dozen cloistered monks live in peace and prayer. They grow vegetables, they tend chickens, they make chocolate. And they sing. Ironically, for a community that has taken a vow of silence, the monks have become world-famous for their glorious voices, raised in ancient chants whose effect on both singer and listener is so profound it is known as “the beautiful mystery.”

very disappointed
Revisado: 03-04-13
Would you try another book from Louise Penny and/or Ralph Cosham?
no
What could Louise Penny have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Lost interest quickly, had to force myself to listen all the way through. It seems odd to use "Jesus Christ" as a swear word in the context of a monastery.
What didn’t you like about Ralph Cosham’s performance?
He spoke too quickly. He didn't differentiate the voices well. Boring. Hard to keep my focus on the story. I sensed that an audio engineer may have slightly sped up the tape, thus interfering with the speaker's artistry.
Any additional comments?
One of the reviewers said there was Gregorian Chant. There were maybe 5 measures of music at the introduction and none thereafter. There were many scenes where one could have expected chant. Surely there are free chants on the internet to incorporate. Don't know why anyone is enthusiastic about this audiobook. Perhaps the positive review I read set me up for more disappointment.
