Historia
Well-known computer security infiltration specialist Jasper Huxley has never met a system he can’t hack. Whether his assignment is accessing a highly classified Pentagon server or modifying his little brother’s high school report card, he’s always got a botnet, an exploit, or a little bit of social engineering he can call up to get the job done. But there are certain things he can’t finesse, no matter how hard he tries.

Haven’t made it through the book
Revisado: 11-07-23
I’ve had this in my library for nearly a month and haven’t made it past chapter 6. The problem isn’t the narration or the story but every time I go to start it I see the cover art and for some reason in my mind it looks like a highly constipated guy trying to work it out. When that is the first thing you see every time you try to start the story it’s hard to get into it. It’s disappointing when I really liked the other books in the series. I guess this is the first time I really realized how important cover art is. After I realized what my mental block was against this book, I would strongly suggest to any authors choosing cover art: Avoid anything that looks like someone in the middle of a difficult dump. It’s literally the one thing you see before hitting play. I’m intending this as constructive criticism not just for these authors but others as well. It’s at times like this I wish there were “conversational” reviews where a response might change my mental picture.

Historia
No one said being a medium would be easy. Rain Christiansen, former FBI agent and current cold case detective, is starting to think it's the hardest job he's ever had - and the most important. He's determined to accept all the changes in his formerly well-ordered life, but that means embracing a whole lot of weird. There's no instruction manual for meshing his work with his medium duties, and he's painfully aware that he's flubbing the job. So are the ghosts, who are becoming increasingly impatient. And stronger.

Hate to say anything negative
Revisado: 09-13-23
I’m visually impaired so I hate to complain about a narrator. But this sounds like a reading at the library I still rated high stars because I need the audio but I got the feeling the narration was only to be paid. Apologies for honesty but I am sensitive to indifference

SSA Rain Christiansen used to be the agency's golden boy. It just takes one moment of weakness, one tiny paranormal sighting, and all of a sudden, he's the agency's embarrassment. His boss gives him one last chance to redeem himself - go down to Brickell Bay, play nice with the local police, and leave the ghost sightings behind. Rain is determined to do exactly that, even if it kills him. Cold-case Detective Daniel McKenna's latest investigation is going nowhere fast. Daniel is glad to finally have the FBI help his department requested, even if it does come in the form of his ex.

I liked but didn’t love
Revisado: 09-13-23
If you are looking for an extension of Kelly and Blue, this is a great substitute. Unfortunately the more the series goes on the more ridiculous the Kelly component becomes. By the end of the series Rain is a flippant ass that I no longer have patience for. I rated it high because the story is solid but I wish I could take away 3 stars for the deterioration of Rains character. In the end he’s so flippant …. Aggravating. But there is a good and solid story. In the end I took away stars because the main ghost character, who I truly appreciated, that resolution wasn’t played out. He deserved a full resolution. Not the disappointment of 15 second he arrives when summoned and an article was written.

Overall an OK book
Revisado: 06-05-23
For full disclosure, I read other’s reviews before I purchased this and agree with some and disagree with others and I am from Tennessee. My initial thought was to give this book a 2 or 3 star rating, but I figured that wouldn’t be fair because typical audience is probably not southern and wouldn’t catch typical southern nuance that is completely missing. As far as narration, I’ve become completely spoiled by the likes of Sean Crisden, Alexander Sendece (hope spelling is correct), Iggy Toma, and Shannon Gunn. Every narrator (voice actor, actor, performer… is there a consensus on how to refer to them?) has a few mistakes and I always wonder if it’s a typo on the page but they have to stay true to what’s written or mispronounced. In this situation, the story would have hugely benefited from a southern narrator. As someone visually impaired, I won’t complain about it. Glad the book was available as an audio book. And if you listen to copyright info, most things in this genre are self published so the author is having to fund the audio version making me add two stars. If I haven’t lost you already in this review my biggest complaint is the you can sacrifice for me but I should sacrifice for you and both people fearing resentment. This weekend I listened to 2 books like that and it’s annoying that something that would be a 5 minute conversation turns into chapters if 13 year old angst. That age group isn’t supposed to buy these titles. I’ll continue with the series. Hope I made it clear I did not get a free copy of the audible and I did pay for my own copy.

Historia
Military life is all I’ve known since I was born. But when a top-secret mission fails, I find myself suddenly discharged with nowhere to go. Mike Bravo saved my life, and they want me to join them, but there’s one small problem. Isaac “Iris” Griffin. He’s as irresistibly snarky as he always was, only there’s a big difference this time. I’m no longer closeted or scared to live my truth. And the truth is, I’ve always wanted him. It’s against Mike Bravo’s rules to fraternize with other team members. But something tells me Iris might be worth the insubordination.

In my defense, I was left alone with a bottle of single-malt and a lifelong penchant for protecting my baby sister. Still, that's no excuse to send 10 drunk-texts on why her hasty marriage would be a mistake. If only I had just texted my sister. But nope. I accidentally sent the message to her, her groom, and his super hot wingman. I also used the phrase “super hot wingman”, so I’d like to die now.

Revisado: 01-29-23
I really wanted to love this book and thought I would but 90 minutes in and I didn’t really like any of the characters and wasn’t engaging in the storyline. And that’s with repeating 2 chapters. Had to return this book. Absolutely nothing against Jacob Morgan or Teddy Hamilton. They really did try to bring this story to life but I just couldn’t get into it. This is only my opinion and a single point of view.

Revisado: 11-07-22
In the description of this book it does say “firm hand” and I took that to mean tough love. But no. It’s a ridiculous spanking/light BDSM trope. And I do mean ridiculous. Wish audible had key words so I could have avoided buying this book.

Revisado: 10-24-22
I make the mistake of buying this full set. Made every excuse in the world for why I couldn’t relate. Not in the right mind space, maybe narrator is not so great, a character I can’t identify with…. None of the above. Because I actually bought this and it’s in my library I’ve tried 3 times and I always quit between book 2 and 3 and never happy I even went that far. I haven’t pinpointed the exact problem but I wish I hadn’t bought this set.

Why?
Revisado: 06-04-22
Why on earth does it seem every m4m book written by women have to include elements of bondage? Literally the last 14 books have had it. Are you all thinking everyone is in to “50 Shades” nonsense? I’ve been with the same person for 27 years and can say there are much more interesting ways to keep the spark plug sparking. Truly wishing there was a filter to screen out what you are sick of. Utterly over the BDSM/ bondage.

The description for this book is misleading.
Revisado: 05-31-22
If I’d known this book would literally take a dive into the paranormal, I’d have been less ruthless with rating. The way the description reads I was expecting a haunted by memories tale. I was not expecting “The Exorcist” with gay leads. If I’d known where this was going ahead of time with the dive into paranormal, I would have been sure I I was in the right mindset before listening. Performance got a higher rating because that’s the only reason I listened to the end. I took one star off for 2 reasons. 1- took me 2 chapters to get into the British accent and 2- seems like the voice for side characters changes. As someone who is visually impaired and can’t actually read the books myself, I’m extremely grateful to nearly anyone who will put a voice to books and I’ll definitely search for more titles narrated by the same person. (As if audible makes that easy) Bottom line is… it was an interesting story but know what you are getting into before you start. I listened because it was included with my membership but I won’t include it in my permanent library. Hope this is helpful.
