Voice Actor ruins it for me
Revisado: 12-05-24
Unfortunately, in audiobooks, the voice actor can truly kill the storyline. The wooden way this voice actor speaks, emphasizes the authors use of language that is not used in a day-to-day basis. Instead of reading, like vernacular or a conversation that people would have with one another it reads as though the author is trying too hard. I absolutely love the storylines, but the author needs to back off of some of these words that they’re using when the characters are speaking with one another. Onto the book. Jesse gets into more scrapes in life-threatening situations than is absolutely believable. The more I read the series the more ticked off I get at how Jesse gets herself into situations that she should know better. However, I’m still hanging in there after reading and listening to several of these novels.

The narrator is not a great voice actor
Revisado: 12-01-24
I have been in search of a new author to read after reading so many mysteries. This author has captured my attention and within a week I have listened to six of her books. The book is amazing. My only beef with everything is how many times can this main character get injured?

The voice actors are subpar
Revisado: 10-10-24
To be honest with you I’m not sure if it was a week story. Or if voice actors made it worse. Unfortunately, this book was very very hard to get through because the voice actors were so bad. They literally sounded like they were bad actors reading a bad script.I wonder if better voice actors would have made this book more enjoyable. Yes there is a beautiful plot twist but other than that this was difficult to get through.

Bad impressions of people of color
Revisado: 02-14-24
I am a huge fan of Janet, Evanovich, and Lorelei King. However, as I am going back through and listening to books that I have read before and listened to before I have feedback. The impressions of Ranger and Lula leave a lot to be desired. I absolutely hate them as a matter of fact. Also, Valerie and clown Aren’t much better. As an author, I am grateful for the skill and ability that Janet has. There are some parts that are quite vulgar, and I don’t remember it being this way. I possibly could be a fuddy-duddy now. Also, I hope that they think about re-recording these earlier books, because the music that plays in the middle of the story is absolutely awful.it sounds like the music in pornos. Aside from that the storyline is great, and I truly enjoy the opportunity to revisit some of my favorites.

Historia
Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is back, packing a whole lot of attitude. This time around, she's on the trail of Kenny Mancuso, a boy from the working-class burg of Trenton, New Jersey, who has just shot his best friend. Fresh out of the Army and suspiciously wealthy, Mancuso's also distantly related to Joe Morelli, a vice cop with questionable ethics, a libido in permanent overdrive, and a habit of horning in on Stephanie's investigations.

I love Janet Evanovich, but not this book
Revisado: 11-13-23
I have been reading and listening to her books for years. I absolutely love her as an author. However, as I have started listening to these books while I drive for Uber, I never realized how vulgar her books were at the very beginning. I’m so glad that she tamed her writing and language in the books. Also I am not a huge fan of CJ Critt’s narration of the books. I am really truly trying to figure out when she tamed down her vulgarity so I can buy those audiobooks and listen to them.

Too much Vulgarity
Revisado: 11-13-23
I absolutely love Janet Ivanovich, and the stories that she writes. However, after revisiting this series, I never realized how much cursing and vulgarity are in the first part of the series. I am glad she changed it. It is a bit much The other thing is that I’m not a fan of CJ, Critt’s, and her narration of the Stephanie Plum series. I love Lorelei kings Narration, and the difference in voices. She makes it very funny and each of the characters have distinctly different voices. Was this being the comedy Lorelei kings? Voices fit more than CJ Critt’s.

Too Many F bombs & soft porn
Revisado: 09-19-23
The book tries to hard to be mystery and a comedy, but it’s not. The author failed to establish well developed characters and their personality as well as a solid, storyline and flat. The actual plot and storyline is absolutely ludicrous. It’s so hard to listen to I had to keep skipping to get through the soft porn. Way too much sexy will they won’t be type of deal This book is clearly written by someone who does not live in Boston, is not familiar with Chicago, and is not familiar with New York. The male narrator, and his Irish accent falls flat. His female voice is super creepy.
The author worked way too hard to make the male characters seem manly and masculine. It truly came off as a gross exaggerated stereotype of a man. He tries way too hard to be something but it’s not. Whoever gave these five star reviews. I question what they read on a regular basis.

Historia
Some places seem too beautiful to be touched by horror. Summit Lake, nestled in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, is that kind of place. But two weeks ago, Becca Eckersley, a first-year law student and daughter of a powerful attorney, was brutally murdered there. Now the town is reeling with grief, and the police are baffled.

Clare's grown very fond of Alfred Glockner, the part-time comic and genuinely jolly charity Santa who's been using her coffeehouse as a place to warm his mittens. When she finds him gunned down in a nearby alley, a few subtle clues convince her that Alfred's death was something more than the tragic result of a random mugging, despite the conclusions of the police.
