Historia
Arlan can go back in time by one minute, once per day. Fail a challenge? Say something dumb? He can get a redo as long as he acts fast. And every time he levels up, he can go back a little further. But, even with his growing power, Arlan has never been in more danger. He was left stranded in the middle of a monster-infested forest, nobody to rely on but himself as he fights to build strength. And his time magic wasn't given to him freely. He stole it. And its original owners would go to any lengths to take it back.

Historia
She's unlike any one or any thing else: a Non-Standard Leashed-Intelligence Cybernetic Enforcer aka NSLICE-00P. The first of her kind, she's let loose into a universe of superheroes on behalf of her sinister masters to destroy all who oppose them. And everything's going according to plan—until NSLICE-00P gets hacked and sent into the past to kill her own creator before he creates her. Obeying orders as always, she wastes the poor guy. Unfortunately, there are consequences to initiating a reality-breaking time paradox. The most significant: total ejection from that reality.

Fine but I won’t be buying the next.
Revisado: 12-06-23
The story is decent but it’s not worth following up.
I like the narrator but 1.0x speed is way too slow. I listened to the book on 1.7-2.5x speed.
This is not an exaggeration, I kept track, there is over two hours of status updates. The system is overly tedious.

A flawed but interesting story, hindered by an incompetent narrator.
Revisado: 12-04-23
The writing is inconsistent and amateurish. The story is a bit intriguing. The author needed help with editing and proper English.
The narrator’s performance was nearly malicious in its execution. Their voice is actually pleasant, but this performance was horrible. Errors included Incorrect pronunciations, poor editing and nearly random changes in character voices. There really was no consistency in regard to the voice used to read a character’s lines.
There’s little chance I will finish the book in an audio setting.

Historia
The first week is in Torin's rear view, and he has survived the apocalypse that overran the world. He has thwarted the attempts of the sea god Sholmdir to bring his reign to an unceremonious early end and secured an island stronghold in the middle of Lake Michigan in the bargain. With a base of operations, it's time to start building his crew. He needs to return to the mainland and start emptying the prisons. Those who can be trusted will be signed to his canon. There are other uses for those who can't.

Not as fun as the first. Need more resolution.
Revisado: 11-17-23
The book is essentially a men’s adventure fantasy. It’s supposed to be sexy, simple, and entertaining. The books biggest issue is the number of things going on at once. There’s got to be at least 5 antagonists (Ashli, Luca, Richard, hector, two gods, biker gang, small town dignitaries, the system, Charlie, that stag) the reader has to keep track of at any one time. It’s all too much and the MC shouldn’t have the capacity to deal with it, which makes the story imbalanced. Too many new issues that go unresolved before the next problem comes from left field. It’s unsatisfying and disorganized.
I’m not 100% sure I prefer Faye Bishop to the male narrator doing all the female characters. Her performance is phoned-in and inconsistent.

Mid-Tier- One Glaringly Bad Writing Habit
Revisado: 10-15-23
The book starts off pretty strong, but drops in writing quality when our MC starts sharing scientific information with others. A good hour or two of the book should have been removed because it’s all overly detailed descriptions of fairly advanced scientific knowledge. It’s basically completely pointless. I’m struggling to understand the rationale behind adding it.
Does it advance the plot? No. Is it interesting? No. Does it make me want to gouge my eardrums out, out of boredom? Yes.
I’d love to have read this book without the science lessons. It would have been a much better product.
“The insight was improved by teaching xyz” There. Done. No gratuitous internal dialogues from our MC of what college level math and science knowledge to drop on the ignorant other worlders. Its a bit meta but, including a character’s internal debate on how to convey, completely pointless to the story, technical information was an extreme example of sloppy storytelling. It’s very cringe and only serves to pad the length of the book. I took a lot of those classes in college it wasn’t fun learning about then and it wasn’t fun revisiting them in a progression fantasy of all things.
I also find the execution flawed. Is electromagnetism and light better described by math? Yes. Can you describe them without mind numbing descriptions of math? Also yes. So why do so in a fantasy book? Why add so much detail? 30% of Americans have a college degree. A small percentage of those have a STEM background enough to understand what the author is even talking about. It’s very puzzling and again very boring!
I liked the author’s writing in general and if they can clean up this particularly bad habit, I’d be very interested in whatever else they publish! Maybe they’ll get some feedback and fix it in the next book.
I really enjoyed the first half of the book. And I love the concept of using science in a fantasy setting but it should have been kept conceptual. This book could have been pretty exceptional if the author would have kept their focus on execution of good storytelling!

Historia
When Alice Verianna went to sleep, she was just another teen from the Denver suburbs. She definitely didn't expect to be transported to a magical alternate dimension, inhabited by monsters and presided over by a mysterious System. Here, people resemble RPG characters and everyone has access to their own status screens. Grappling with the mechanics of the elusive System isn't the only challenge Alice faces. It seems an underground organization known as the Society of Starry Eyes has taken a particular interest in other dimensions.

And neither are the other reviewers. So far the book is ok.. it’s not extra special but the writing is decent. A little loose-y goose-y on extraneous details and internal thought processes. As in there’s too much of it.
A good passive listen so far.

I thought it would be funny
Revisado: 09-15-23
The book in general lacks appeal. It’s ridiculous but not funny. It’s outrageous but boring. I thought maybe it was receiving bad reviews because it was tongue-in-cheek in the same vein as many of Virlyce’s work but the story is just not engaging.
Can honestly say I regret this purchase.

Historia
Hannah has a routine. Wake up, take a shower, go to school, go to work, come home, and pass out. It's a perfectly normal routine for a perfectly normal girl who does not have to remember how her limbs work every morning because of haunting nightmares of being a very different creature in a very different world. That's all she thinks they are—nightmares—until one night, they're all too lucid, and her body on Earth starts to change. Slowly, Hannah's humanity starts to slip away... but surely she can continue just sticking to the routine, right? It'll be fine. It has to be.

Just not my cup of tea.
Revisado: 09-08-23
Here’s how the story goes in broad strokes:
The MC lives in two worlds in two different bodies at once and conveniently only exists in those worlds while “asleep” in the other. One side is a normal human girl, the other is spider thing.
The MC is a lesbian with social justice warrior angst. I’m pretty much good with it except instead of subtle prodding and believable off screen characters, it’s mostly over done caricatures of “bad” people.
Be prepared to suspend your disbelief in the “real” world. The book is a mashup of urban horror and epic fantasy. You’re reading two parallel mostly independent plots. (Atleast halfway through the book). The urban fantasy just doesn’t work well IMO. Too much craziness going on. The MC is pretty unhinged which is a little taxing on the reader. I read a lot of fantasy and it’s just too off quilter for me.
I found it a tad… try hard? Eye roll-y? That half the characters (or more) were
A) on the spectrum
B) LGBT
C) a combination of a and b
I mean the whole book is a bit of a metaphor of trans and being comfortable in your own skin right? I just thought that less would’ve been more in this case.
Not horrible but I just don’t enjoy the back and forth.

The elves took everything. Following a bloodied slaughter of her whole race, and struggling to stay alive, she had no choice but to survive on her own. That was until the world changed. Her entire planet; a whole cluster was introduced to the vast universe by The System, or perhaps God. A universe filled with endless beings and civilizations that fought for power and dominance. After the integration, Blair finds herself in a forest surrounded by unknown beasts, peril lurking, alone. Alone and with nothing but the mentality to survive, she will have to get stronger in this unforgiving world.
