Historia
Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

Builds up suspense quite well
Revisado: 06-23-19
Was not a fan of Kate's performance, but when 80% in to the story, I warmed up to it. I feel like having such believable characters is what made this story well worth the listen, and the interesting take on Christmas sure adds a special dimension. However, be ready for excessive use of similes...Hill is quite the fan.

Absolutely loved it
Revisado: 02-14-19
I cried, I laughed, I was at the edge of every emotional turn...and the performance by Glenister just continues to be some of the best voice work I've had the privilege to enjoy. Can't wait for more of Strike and Robin.

Historia
Following his blockbuster biography of Steve Jobs, The Innovators is Walter Isaacson’s revealing story of the people who created the computer and the Internet. It is destined to be the standard history of the digital revolution and an indispensable guide to how innovation really happens. What were the talents that allowed certain inventors and entrepreneurs to turn their visionary ideas into disruptive realities? What led to their creative leaps? Why did some succeed and others fail?

Seemed pretty comprehensive, more so than expected
Revisado: 03-16-16
The beginning (at least first 1/3) was hard to get through; I did not expect a lot of detailed historical accounts of the primitive pioneers of computing (e.g. Lady Lovelace and her love life, among the love stories of so many others in her neighboring decades). I wanted to hear more about contemporary leaders (Gates, Jobs, etc.) and their histories along with their competitors and partners. The second half was a lot more enjoyable. I must admit, I learned a lot more than I expected (detailed account of the history behind the technical term "bug"), and I appreciate now having the historical insight as a tech geek, but I could have done without the love stories and drama in the first half, way to drag down technology to a bore.

Historia
When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, he discovers that Quine's disappearance is no coincidence. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were published, it would ruin lives - meaning that almost everyone in his life would have motives to silence him.

I hope for more of Strike and Robin
Revisado: 06-08-15
Beautifully performed by Robert Glenister, "The Silkworm" is a perfect follow-up to "Cuckoo's Calling." Everything you enjoyed about Galbraith's/Rowling's first book with Strike and Robin flourishes further in "Silkworm," and it brings you on a ride worth taking...one leading to one of the most exciting taxi cab rides you'll listen to. I enjoyed the story, characters, and mystery of Strike's second big case far more than Lula's, and that's a great thing...purely representative of Rowling's capacity to continuously improve upon her craft.
