Historia
Beth and her gentle, kind husband Frank are happily married, but their relationship relies on the past staying buried. But when Beth’s brother-in-law shoots a dog going after their sheep, Beth doesn’t realize that the gunshot will alter the course of their lives. For the dog belonged to none other than Gabriel Wolfe, the man Beth loved as a teenager—the man who broke her heart years ago. Gabriel has returned to the village with his young son Leo, a boy who reminds Beth very much of her own son, who died in a tragic accident.

Selfish People Making Excuses
Revisado: 04-19-25
The main character is so foolish, it is hard for me to keep going. I am 1/2 way through the book & she makes one destructive decision after another- all the while convincing herself that her pain makes it ok to make decisions that will devastate the people she "loves." The main character has the emotional maturity of a 14 year old. Also, WHY was alcoholism never mentioned? Was everyone ignorant of what that is? Why didn't anyone in the town think to do an intervention or invite Jimmy to an AA meeting?

Historia
Survival for Ki Lim and Sang Ly is a daily battle at Stung Mean Chey, the largest municipal waste dump in all of Cambodia. They make their living scavenging recyclables from the trash. Just when things seem worst, Sang Ly learns a secret about the ill-tempered rent collector who comes demanding money - a secret that sets in motion a tide that will change the life of everyone it sweeps past.

Kind of Fun
Revisado: 01-17-25
The story was fun, but so very far fetched. I find books scarier if they could actually happen .

Historia
Jacob Finch Bonner was once a promising young novelist with a respectably published first book. Today, he’s teaching in a third-rate MFA program and struggling to maintain what’s left of his self-respect; he hasn’t written—let alone published—anything decent in years. When Evan Parker, his most arrogant student, announces he doesn’t need Jake’s help because the plot of his book in progress is a sure thing, Jake is prepared to dismiss the boast as typical amateur narcissism. But then...he hears the plot.

Historia
Anna Williams-Bonner has taken care of business. That is to say, she’s taken care of her husband, bestselling novelist Jacob Finch Bonner, and laid to rest those anonymous accusations of plagiarism that so tormented him. Now she is living the contented life of a literary widow, enjoying her husband’s royalty checks in perpetuity, but for the second time in her life, a work of fiction intercedes, and this time it’s her own debut novel, The Afterword. After all, how hard can it really be to write a universally lauded bestseller?

The writing was good, but the main character was not a likable person. It is hard for me to care about a person with no likable characteristics.

LGBT Propaganda on Overdrive
Revisado: 02-16-24
I was so looking forward to this book as I had really enjoyed, "Such A Fun Age." I was very disappointed to find the thin plot was buried in one lesbian sex scene after another with the, "Oh, wow! Lesbian sex is so much better, Blah, Blah, Blah." With 3 hours to go I'm giving it up.
