Not worth your time
Revisado: 12-26-24
This was by far the worst book in the Bob and Nikki series. The author has the vocabulary of a high school dropout, and seemingly no knowledge about the world outside his hometown and the Ozarks. The way he believes Japan functions as a society and his depiction of Japanese culture is ridiculous.
The book seems to have been written because "it was time for a new book" void of content as it was.
The book is cr*p.

Cheap and lazy space opera
Revisado: 10-09-24
The low quality of the writing completely destroyed this book for me. The book is full of lazy mistakes by the author who seemed to forget what was written from chapter to chapter. It became so annoying that I couldn't even finish book no. 1

Stilted dialogue and a ridiculous storyline
Revisado: 03-19-24
I managed to force myself half way through the book before giving up. Characters that were so superficial that I felt nothing for them, dialogue that was so unnatural that it hurt and a story that at best was weak and most of the time merely ridiculous. The narrator tried his best at sounding as reading dialogue with a believable German accent... but failing miserably. Not worth neither the money nor the time.

Ok book, but rotten production quality
Revisado: 10-27-23
I liked the concept, author is a good storyteller. Narrator also good... but, the production was terrible. It sounded as if narrator had gone through the book and corrected mistakes or passages the weren't happy with. I'm sure that's normal with a book, the problem was that the sound in these corrected or bettered passages was tinny and of a much lower quality than the rest of the book. It didn't ruin the book, but the otherwise good narrator's performance was marred by these technical issues.

Great book, no follow-up?
Revisado: 10-19-23
I liked everything about this book; great concept, author is a great storyteller and narrator easily among the best I've heard.
However, this book was released (audio version) in 2021, and still no book no. 2?? What's happening?

Concept is interesting, but...
Revisado: 03-15-23
Though well written there are serious flaws in the story, let me give just one example; in the story one of the main characters is supposedly almost completely ignorant about the Bible, the Disciples and the life of Jesus. This character was a highly intelligent scientist... but ignorant about who Judas was and about his role in the story of Jesus.

Historia
Leland Gaunt opens a new shop in Castle Rock called Needful Things. Anyone who enters his store finds the object of his or her lifelong dreams and desires: a prized baseball card, a healing amulet. In addition to a token payment, Gaunt requests that each person perform a little "deed", usually a seemingly innocent prank played on someone else from town. These practical jokes cascade out of control, and soon the entire town is doing battle with itself. Only Sheriff Alan Pangborn suspects that Gaunt is behind the population's increasingly violent behavior.

A wasted opportunity
Revisado: 09-14-20
The story is, of course brilliant. Stephen King is THE best horror-writer and this story, although not among his best, is still very good. But this production is at best acceptable but at its worst hardly passable. Weird music accompaniments and questionable sound-production ruins the experience of listening to this book. I give it a hesitant 3 stars.
