Interesting story. I would love to find out more about the characters. But the narrator had an odd habit of raising the tone of her voice up at the end of every sentence. I found that a little offputting, Overall, I did enjoy it.

Brilliantly thought provoking

I truly enjoyed listening to this title, especially as read by the author. The topics of laughter in the face of tragedy and what actually constitutes free speech gave me much to think about. This is a great perspective from a younger voice. I will definitely listen to this title again.

Good story telling in odd circumstances

I always enjoy the story itself in Hamilton’s books. This new world is a bit harder to relate to because it requires more “suspension of disbelief” than either of her other two universes. The “religion” described does not match my experience at all. Like I said, good story in an odd world. The reader was quite good. If you enjoy her other works, you will appreciate Hamilton’s story rhythm here

The overall story was interesting with quite a few twists. However, I’m not a fan of good characters being killed off after time was invested in making me like them. Also, the reader was not my favorite as her main character voice was too whiny and high pitched to my ears. I recommend reading this one rather than listening
