Historia
July 25, 2234: The crew of the Adamura discovers the Anomaly. On the seemingly uninhabited planet Talos VII:a circular pit, 50 kilometers wide. Its curve not of nature, but design. Now, a small team must land and journey on foot across the surface to learn who built the hole and why. But they all carry the burdens of lives carved out on disparate colonies in the cruel cold of space. For some the mission is the dream of the lifetime, for others a risk not worth taking, and for one it is a desperate attempt to find meaning in an uncaring universe.

Gripping
Revisado: 08-10-23
it's a gripping story because you can see so many ways it might end. I was ultimately disappointed, but the journey was absorbing.

I won't pretend I'm the best at following the logic of Mr Queen, but i have to call out at least one of these terrible points he is using as definite fact...
women would never smoke pipes, women carry lipstick and would naturally think to write with it (a man wouldn't think of it). I'm irritated. The more I listen to these stories the less impressed I am by the ultimate answer. Its just speculation and probability delivered as pompously as possible.

Historia
At Iyot Lock, a large decaying house, two young cousins, Leonora and Edward, are parked for the summer with their aging spinster aunt and her cruel housekeeper. At first the unpleasantness and petty meanness appear simply spiteful, calculated to destroy Edward's equanimity. But when the spoiled Leonora is not given the birthday present of a specific dolly that she wants, affairs inexorably take a much darker turn with terrifying, life-destroying consequences for everyone.

it lost a star for the ending
Revisado: 12-01-20
I expect a story so detailed to have an ending that makes more sense. It doesn't have to be a happy ending, but it needs to be satisfying.

Minus 1 Star for the Ending
Revisado: 11-05-20
The very end doesn't make sense. It alludes to a deeper story, but not in any connected way. It felt tacked on a silly. Otherwise, a great story.

The characters aren't following their own story
Revisado: 10-08-20
Hopefully this review is just for this first part and not the whole thing. I can't stand Stacy. She's like that friend who doesn't actually watch the movie, but instead glances up and asks you what's happening, only in this case -it's her story-. It's maddening.
Edit: its for the whole book. Stacy is by far the most irritating character despite being in an interesting story. it's worth the $.

This collection features a menagerie of horror stories. Some are scary. Some are disturbing. Some are funny. Meet werewolves, vampires, zombies, psychopaths, aliens, cannibals, ghosts, and various things that go bump in the night. Previously published in dozens of anthologies and magazines, some of these tales are mild, but some are extreme. Let the reader beware...

Chapter 17. How awful. It truly taints the whole collection. The extreme horror was unexpected and unwelcome. Rape and torture triggers.

Bull headed characters
Revisado: 04-20-20
I can’t stand when characters who are supposed to be intelligent consistently refuse to believe their own eyes. It gets worse as the story progresses to the point you hope they die. Otherwise, it’s a very good story. 4.5 stars

Revisado: 03-04-20
Emmy is her own worst enemy and the most irritating viewpoint to hear this story from. She's childish and impulsive to the point of being a hazard. Its almost bad enough for me to root for the killer.
