As the Project enters its final phase, air force majors Carson and Ourecky are dispatched on an urgent mission to intercept and investigate a massive orbiting object suspected of harboring nuclear weapons. Emotionally exhausted, with his marriage teetering on the brink, Ourecky reluctantly accepts the assignment; in return for his sacrifice, he is promised an opportunity to go to MIT to pursue the PhD he has long desired.

lousy ending
Revisado: 03-26-22
What the heck was that? The story had so much potential. To end it that way was not right. After so long invested we get a sappy ending like that. Sounds like someone was up against a hard deadline and use an escape.

Historia
Five years ago, the US Space Force became a reality. And while those writing the checks took things very seriously, the other military branches did not. As a result, Space Force was populated by undesirables. My name is Captain Ethan Stone, a decorated member of SEAL Team Six turned Space Force "recruit". Flash forward five years and between tenses. President West is in office. Power has shifted. And Space Force is defunded. With just a handful of us still living on base, we find ourselves being evicted. But before all of us can leave, aliens invade.

Watched Pixels movie one too many times
Revisado: 05-21-19
The story started out great but then devolved into a derivative of the Pixels moveWith way too many ass and shit references. It's humor was sophomoric at best but still I look forward to reading or listening to the other offerings by this author. It wasn't a bad distraction.

Great read

Great story. A little rushed on the ending as though rushed to make a deadline, or finishline fever, but otherwise a rich, full, and well scripted story. Scott Brick's narration was terrific as always

OUCH! This was a hard one to get through.
Revisado: 02-12-18
Narrator wasn't as into it as much have as he could have been. He sounded like he was reading a restaurant menu and why did he have to chuckle whenever he spoke. Sounds like it was narrated by Katherine Hepburn. The story lacked fluidity and was somewhat disjointed. It's not bad, but could have been more enjoyable. The story seems as though someone gathered a bunch of tech info and tried to find a way to work it into a book. I appreciate the time it took write. I'm not an author and couldn't be one of I tried, but I know a weak story. This one lacked an real feel for plausibility or reality. It had too much filler and not enough plot depth. The characters were superficial with shallow dialog. It is a story written by someone that the depth of knowledge about his subject matter. I will listen to this authors next offering. I just hope that he is able to grow the characters and pay more attention to the story cohesiveness.

After one of the most contentious and divisive elections in American history, the new president is finally settling into the West Wing. But when his chief of staff discovers evidence that voting machines in key counties in swing states were tampered with, the whole administration is in danger of unraveling. Did someone steal the election? Are America's enemies involved? Were the tampered-with machines actually rigged to swing the election the other way - and if so and the plot failed, what is the conspirators' backup plan?

Not his best offering
Revisado: 12-23-17
Stephen Coonts is my favourite
author, but this book was written without the continuity found in his other books. Oddly enough I believe his last book was one of his best. This book seemed to have been rushed, perhaps to meet a deadline. The characters and story line lacked the depth of his previous work. This is by no means a bad book, it's just the holding it up to the light of his previous work, I found it wanting. I'm sure his next offering will be as entertaining as ever.

Historia
Thomas Block has created Captain - his most ambitious, intricate, and action-packed aviation tale yet. It is a chilling and all too real story about a routine Trans-Atlantic airline flight that suddenly turns absolutely insane. In the doomed airliner's cockpit, inside the passenger cabin, and on the ground, a complex array of characters have been propelled at jet speed into a sudden and frantic race for survival.

Good story, but bad narration
Revisado: 02-03-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The story was a bit trite, but enjoyable enough, but the narration was less than enjoyable. The writer tired to save a few bucks by doing his own narration. No offence, but he is no John Nance.
What other book might you compare Captain to and why?
Sort of a MAYDAY style book, but less accurate.
Would you be willing to try another one of Thomas Block’s performances?
Yes, just as long as he isn't the narrator.
Could you see Captain being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
The premmis has bee made into movies several times.

Great Book
Revisado: 06-12-14
What did you love best about The Panther?
The John Corey character is really one of DeMille's best. The story was quick paced and well written. Having first read the book and now hearing it on audio makes me appreciate the story line all the more. Even the humorous moments were well timed and funny.
What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?
The story was very well narrated and told in a narrative cantor that keeps the listener interested. The narrator did not monotone, as some do.
