Historia
Birdie’s keeping it together; of course she is. So she’s a little hungover, sometimes, and she has to bring her daughter, Emaleen, to her job waiting tables at an Alaskan roadside lodge, but she’s getting by as a single mother in a tough town. Still, Birdie can remember happier times from her youth, when she was free in the wilds of nature. Arthur Neilsen, a soft-spoken and scarred recluse who appears in town only at the change of seasons, brings Emaleen back to safety when she gets lost in the woods. Most people avoid him, but to Birdie, he represents everything she’s ever longed for.

And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

It was a terrific mystery that kept me guessing until the end. Too many books are easy to determine the ending too soon.
Took awhile to get anywhere with the investigation. I like Pomeranians. 😕 lol

A story that takes you away.
Revisado: 12-01-23
The story was interesting and the tale was not obvious. So many twists and turns. Intriguing and took the reader to a foreign land, So many authors give away too much and their stories are too boring and commonplace. Morraina went from a do good employee, mistress of her boss, to a brave woman and hero. Ann Patchet is one of my favorite authors.
