Historia
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

struggle to get through
Revisado: 11-10-22
this second book was a bit boring and a bit of a chore to get through. I hope the third one is better, otherwise I don't see the point of keeping this one.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

hard to get through, never got better
Revisado: 08-17-22
i found it very hard to get into the story as it was hard to empathize with a spoiled, superficial, bitter alcoholic brat that is the main character. I haven't enjoyed a book less in a very long time. I had great hopes for it so I plowed ahead through the chapters but it never got better. wouldn't recommend it to anyone. waste of time.

I had a hard time with the beginning of the story. I gave it 4 chances to grab my attention and pull me in. If I wasn't stuck in a car for 8 hours, I don't think I would have finished this book. I gave it 3 starts because of the ending, otherwise it would have been less.
