Historia
In the face of scorn and disbelief, Jesus Christ announced his kingdom. In the face of hatred and death, he demonstrated its power. In this 12-lecture series, Dr. Sinclair Ferguson explains how the Sermon on the Mount equips us to live a kingdom life in a fallen world. Dr. Ferguson highlights Christ's exhortations to live counter-culturally, to examine the deeper implications of God's law, and to rest in the knowledge of God as father for the cure of all our anxieties.

Historia
Who was Friedrich Nietzsche? This lonely and chronically ill, yet passionate, daring, and complex man is perhaps the most mysterious and least understood of all contemporary philosophers. Why are his brilliant insights so relevant for today? How did he become the most misinterpreted and unfairly maligned intellectual figure of the last two centuries?

Clear, succinct, and informative. Phenomenal!
Revisado: 03-13-20
If you have any interest in Nietzsche, you want this lecture series. By the end, you will not only have an idea of who the man was and what he thought, but also a sufficient knowledge of whether or not you want to invest more time and energy into this remarkable thinker. The lecturers themselves are also second to none!

Great book. Engaging from beginning to end. A sorely needed perspective on the 2016 election, the man at the center of it, and the country that made it possible.

Historia
Back in 2005, the first edition of Why Gender Matters broke ground in illuminating the differences between boys and girls—how they perceive the world differently, how they learn differently, how they process emotions and take risks differently. Dr. Sax argued that in failing to recognize these hardwired differences between boys and girls, we ended up reinforcing damaging stereotypes, medicalizing misbehavior, and failing to help kids to reach their full potential.

Eye-opening, in the kind of way that brings clarity to everything else you think about. Every human being ought to read this book before weighing in on current debates/arguments. It's clear, and it's a surprisingly enjoyable listen. Well worth my credit!

Revisado: 06-20-19
Does a good job of of making Frankl's accessible and applicable to everyday life. A bit repetitive, but nonetheless substantial. I'd recommend reading after Man's Search for Meaning to clarify and reinforce what Frankl presents in that masterpiece.

The Best Kind of History
Revisado: 06-04-19
I have a hard time reading most history books, I suspect because they tend toward focusing on the trees to a degree that my mind has a hard time keeping track of the forest. Not so with The Cave and the Light. Combine a big-picture narrative of the West with samplings of the thought of those whose ideas helped to shape that history, and you have one of the best 25-hour books I've ever listened to. Informative and delightful account of the people and the ideas that are still shaping us today. Great narrator too.
