Historia
Keyara Henderson's life takes an unexpected turn when more than half of her vision deteriorates due to diabetes. In an effort to regain her independence, Keyara opts to attend Georgia Southern University, a prestigious university with a drive long enough to prevent her from having anyone to fall back on. Although he has reservations, Keyara's father relents under two conditions: one being that she must stay in an assisted-living facility and the other requiring her to employ a chauffeur.

Decent I guess?
Revisado: 12-18-24
So… This book was a decent enough read, but it definitely could have withstood a few changes that would have changed the review overall. First thing, the female narrator always has Ciara sounding like a little girl, even in the sex scenes and that’s disturbing. People with disabilities do not sound like that, and it gives the impression that we all have this naïve, simple minded, Oppositional behavior that’s linked to our disabilities and that’s not true. Secondly, it would’ve been nice to see the female character remain visually impaired. So often in life, we try to make the perfect picture as an end ending but the reality is, some people will never ever get their vision back and they’re in the world, living life, better than those who are in the abled body community. I have a visual impairment and could definitely appreciate Kiara‘s perspective on how men perceived her as a woman living with a disability. I could also relate to her insecurities as a woman living with a disability and how it would affect a man in a relationship. With these two adjustments, I think the book would have gotten much better reviews overall. I still would recommend it.

Unexpected
Revisado: 12-17-24
I thought Opal made the women characters sound silly, immature, and goofy… She was mixed match to Winston. Winston always reads really well and gets into the character. The story was ridiculous, over-the-top and totally unbelievable. I appreciate authors, but this one is not it, This might make me not read the rest of the series.

Romantic and predictable
Revisado: 07-24-24
It was a nice story with minimal drama, which was good. The story was very predictable and a little corny even but overall, I’m not disappointed. Probably would not read this book again myself, but it was cute.

Delve deeper into Denny and Neeka's world, and you'll either be begging to leave or won't want to. Too Devout is the anticipated mega-conclusion to the renowned Devout series. Listeners were left unsure but hopeful that they would be reacquainted with the two star-crossed lovers. Denaché Denny "D Rock" Graham, the ever-complex crime lord with his layers of mystery beneath his grime and his weakness for the simpler semi of the pair—the beguiling Neeka Perry. Neeka was left in waiting, and it was not in vain. Denny is back, but back to what? Or better, in fact, back as what?

Super intense
Revisado: 06-12-24
I gave this book of four because of the subject matter. I am excited to see black authors, take mental health seriously and aren’t afraid to talk about it in their books. It is also commendable that there are characters in the book that are willing to risk it all in order to stand by those that they love, who suffer with mental health illnesses. I thought that the storyline was a little tired and the drug dealer image is dead. We as Black people need to do better at how we portray our men. They should be in other professions, besides drug dealing, The underground trade or something else nefarious. The reader was great and did a really good job of portrayed feelings of each character. I thought that Mika‘s character cried too much and was melodramatic at times. I would read this story again, simply because of the topic matter and how each character had to deal with it.

If only she hadn’t threatened exactly that, just before someone winds up dead, and her fingerprints are all over the murder weapon. All he wanted was to live a quiet life, without all the danger and darkness of his past. Those plans are blown when he’s accused of a crime he has nothing to do with, leaving him with a hard decision…remain in the shadows, or do what he can to help a friend?

This book was full of suspense, great sex, and a wonderful storyline
Revisado: 03-05-24
OH!, MY!, GOSH!… Now this is what you call a writer. This book is full of suspense, thrill and wonderful sex scenes. The narrators brought the book to life and pulled your emotions in at every turn, they always do the best work. The characters were well developed, and the storyline was not rushed at all. She had the typical black woman personality and set a friends but, I would definitely recommend this book. Christina is now my favorite author.

If there’s any one thing Pierre and Logan have in common, it’s their ability to invite snap judgements based on shallow views of who they are. Logan is the privileged only daughter of a respected family whose legacy runs long and deep. Pierre is the moody, orphaned son of big screen royalty who couldn’t possibly live up to the prestige of his pedigree. Or maybe not.

This is what I consider a well thought through story
Revisado: 03-02-24
This is the first urban romance novel that I’ve read where the characters are complete, and the storyline is easy to follow. Nothing was rushed, and their love story wasn’t centered around, just sex. This book took us through break up, growth and development, pregnancy and choices, Personal struggle and accomplishments. I’m not sure if this is a part of a series but I hope if it isn’t, that it does become a series. The narrators were absolutely wonderful and pull the reader into the story, emotionally and psychologically when appropriate. Logan‘s character was super dramatic, OCD and nerve-racking at times, but it was real. Perry’s character was good, and I loved that he was able to maintain sobriety while facing life challenges. This is a book that I would recommend for first time urban romance readers. Good job, Christina, keep up the awesome work.

Horrible narration
Revisado: 02-26-24
Both narrators were absolutely terrible for this book. She made every character sound, childish, and cartoonish, while the male narrator sounded as though he was way too old for the character he was portraying. Audible really does need to put together a listening team for these books before they are released. The story was decent enough and the characters needed to develop a little more. The female character was childish, immature, which made her character seem even more compatible with the male character. Again, these types of reeds are for beginners. I wasn’t impressed at all, and did not like the book until the end.

For Nalani Stark, legacy matters… maybe more than most things. Important enough that when that legacy — inextricably tied to her mother’s memory - is challenged, she’s forced to consider even the most undesirable options… Such as a match made in hell with Orion Sterling. The heir to the competitor she grew up being warned about. Orion is a man well-accustomed to getting exactly what he wants. Other than opportunities to grow the family business, he’s moved by very few things.

Very appreciative
Revisado: 02-23-24
I actually liked this book along with the performance. As most urban/black romance novels have the men knee-deep in crime and drugs, it was good to know that Orion was an honest businessman. I didn’t feel like the story was rushed, and even though the characters could have been introduced a little differently, I felt like it made the story that much better. Both narrators were awesome and they always are. They provide the ability for the listener to really get engaged in the book and experienced the feelings and emotions of each character. Even though Nalani was mean for the majority of the book, with the exception of the sex scenes, I would definitely read this book again, and recommended for new romance readers. Thank you to the author for presenting a different outlook on black romance. Waiting for the next series

Historia
When souls are tied, it's never goodbye. A boy I was that summer evening I met you, pulling your belongings out of the truck and into your new home. I knew it was love then. A whole man I was the day that you met me at the altar and agreed to love me until death do us part. A shell of a man I've become since it did, unable to move on, move forward, or progress in any way until I discovered that not even death was permanent enough to keep us apart. A better man I'm destined to be, knowing that, at some capacity, you're still with me. Our love is one that never dies.

Pretty decent with a few minor adjustments
Revisado: 02-20-24
I actually liked the storyline, but felt as though it could’ve been a little more in-depth with the investigation of finding honest killer. I wanted to hear Winston James read a whole lot more than the woman that they chose to narrate for air. The female narrator’s reading was nerve-racking, and her voice made the character Sound like an old little girl. Audible studios should consider employing a listening team to hear these productions before they are released. I’ve been listening to audiobooks for over 30 years and I know a great listen when I hear it. They do pretty bad at matching women narrators than they do men. The story overall was good, but I will say that the little girl was a little too advanced and conversational, which made it a little unbelievable. I know that it’s a fictional story, but sometimes we can do a little too much. I’d recommend this story for audible beginners

Good read
Revisado: 02-12-24
G This was a nice love story for young people in their early mid 20s. The only complaint that I have is the dismissal of Samara‘s emotions by her aunt and uncle. Forcing someone to take care of a child in the middle of trauma is never good… The author has to remember that trauma hits peoples lives differently and it’s not as simple as forcing someone into doing something that they are not mentally or emotionally well enough to do. Other than that, it was a good read ood read. The narrator’s did an excellent job as both of them always do.
