Historia
The dust storms that terrorized America's High Plains in the darkest years of the Depression were like nothing ever seen before or since, and the stories of the people that held on have never been fully told. Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times journalist and author Timothy Egan follows a half-dozen families and their communities through the rise and fall of the region.

Great book!
Revisado: 08-21-18
I grew up in this part of the country and have been to nearly every city mentioned. My family homesteaded there in 1918 and we are still here. I know these stories and our family has our own, most people my age have never even heard of the dust bowl and I’m glad there is such a good book I can share with them now.

Historia
From drone warfare in the Middle East to digital spying by the National Security Agency, the US government has harnessed the power of cutting-edge technology to awesome effect. But what happens when ordinary people have the same tools at their fingertips? Advances in cybertechnology, biotechnology, and robotics mean that more people than ever before have access to potentially dangerous technologies that could be used to attack states and private citizens alike.

something to think on
Revisado: 05-16-15
This is a great book to think on, but I would hesitate to make it doctrine for your life. The authors pay some lip service to keeping the government out of our lives, but have fairly statist views for our planet. That's my personal belief, and I'm a gun toting hippie from Colorado that wants very very very little to do with the government.

Historia
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Loong but good.

What did you love best about The Stand?
A bargain if you consider your getting 48hrs of entertainment for only one credit. You may have to suffer through the first couple hours, but the story picked up and I couldn't put it down.
