If you want to know story telling hands on - this is it
Revisado: 09-28-24
In depth book about why and HOW to tell stories. I have learned a lot, and the insights provided is directly applicable for me in a business context. However, it also made me reflect upon important 5 second moments in my life, which has been quite emotional on a personal level.
The book is a bit repetitive, however the repeated examples helps prove the points and it is only annoying towards the end.

Historia
Many of us dread having to convey our ideas to others, often feeling ill-equipped, anxious, and awkward. Public speaking experts help by focusing on planned communication experiences such as slide presentations, pitches, or formal talks. Yet, most of our professional and personal communication occurs in spontaneous situations that creep up on us and all too often leave us flustered and stumbling for words. Stanford lecturer, podcast host, and communication expert Matt Abrahams provides tangible, actionable skills to help even the most anxious of speakers succeed when speaking spontaneously.

Historia
What passes for strategy in too many businesses, government agencies, and military operations is a toxic mix of wishful thinking and a jumble of incoherent policies. Richard P. Rumelt’s breakthrough concept is that leaders become effective strategists when they focus on challenges rather than goals, pinpointing the crux of their pivotal challenge—the aspect that is both surmountable and promises the greatest progress—and taking decisive, coherent action to overcome it.

A good successor to good strategy /bad strategy
Revisado: 03-31-24
This is yet a great book from Rumelt. It dives mucj deeper behind the diagnosis of strategy, focusing on the Crux. Also there is a lot of practical examples.
I highly recommend reading good strategy /bad strategy before this one. Otherwise I think it might be a bit confusing and not actionable.

Models is the first book ever written on seduction as an emotional process rather than a logical one, a process of connecting with women rather than impressing them. It's the most mature and honest guide on how a man can attract women without faking behavior, without lying and without emulating others. A game-changer.

Nothing extraordinary insights. Lots of stories and slow talk. Listened at 1.5 speed and skipped sections when it got too much.

Historia
It’s 1890, and the newly famous Sherlock Holmes faces his worst adversary to date - a diabolical villain bent on destroying some of London’s most admired public figures in particularly gruesome ways. A further puzzle is that suicide closely attends each of the murders. As he tracks the killer through vast and seething London, Holmes finds himself battling both an envious Scotland Yard and a critical press as he follows a complex trail from performers to princes, anarchists to aesthetes.

Spoiler: a not recognizable Watson and Mycroft
Revisado: 02-06-22
The story is OK entertainment - but the previous are much better. As other reviews have stated, the suspension of Mycroft does not fit with the Homes stories. Also Watson attacking Sherlock with morfin feels outrageous and I almost ended the story right there in misbelief.
Overall OK if you have nothing against mysterious plot cf. above or are addicted to Sherlock Holmes.

Historia
Harley Merlin can sense people's emotions, among other things. It's how she snagged her first job pinpointing cheaters at a casino. But she has no clue where she got these freakish powers because she spent her childhood jumping from home to home in the foster system, and her father left her with nothing more than a cryptic note. Then she crosses paths with a terrifyingly real monster. Which is when a mysterious and annoyingly arrogant young warlock named Wade Crowley steps in, introducing her to a hidden world of beasts, magicals, and covens riddled with secrets.

Developing and implementing a strategy is the central task of a leader, whether the CEO at a Fortune 100 company, an entrepreneur, a church pastor, the head of a school, or a government official. Richard Rumelt argues that the heart of a good strategy is insight - into the true nature of the situation, into the hidden power in a situation, and into an appropriate response. He shows you how insight can be cultivated with a wide variety of tools for guiding your own thinking.

The most important strategy book
Revisado: 10-14-20
I have been reading and searching for a good strategy book for many years - and this book just nails it. Whether you are an expert, leader, or novice you will without a doubt find this book inspiring and entertaining. Although Rumelt's articles are also very well written, the book takes the knowledge to a new level.
If you work with strategy - in any respect - then read this book.
