Terrible book. I would return it if I could
Revisado: 01-17-25
The performance was fine. They did what they could with the terrible writing. The characters were annoying. The writing wasn’t great and the twists were not twists. It’s possible though that I’m just old and jaded and have read enough books that I could see the twists coming from a mile away. Don’t waste your money.

Great book but trigger alert for SA
Revisado: 08-29-24
Wonderful narrator and engaging story. Historical aspects were accurate enough that it was enjoyable instead of off putting like a lot of historical fiction.
Spoiler alert and Major trigger warning: this story includes descriptions/themes of SA and incest. If this bothers you, don’t get it. It’s not super detailed but it is an important part of the story to be aware of.

Historia
The folks in Mike Erikson's small New England town would say he's just your average, everyday guy. And that's exactly how Mike likes it. Sure, the life he's chosen isn't much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he's content with his quiet and peaceful existence. That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve.

Meh. Stopped listening.
Revisado: 08-29-24
Fairly standard and expected. The narrator did his best but I got bored pretty quickly of the story and checked a synopsis and confirmed it was going to end the way I figured, so I stopped listening.

Historia
When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella's side of the story. At last, listeners can experience Edward's version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun. This unforgettable tale as told through Edward's eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire.

Read/listen to Twilight first , don’t expect a masterpiece, and you will be fine.
Revisado: 12-13-23
If you have not read the original, you will get lost. It starts writing with no explanation about who people are what they look like and why anyone cares . If you have read the original twilight, you’ll be OK. The story is OK but a bit repetitive. If you can get past that you’ll be OK. I never liked Edward in the original book. He came off as a narcissistic pushy jerk, and this book gives you enough of his inner dialogue and turmoil you understand why he’s coming off as a pushy jerk in the original book, and I find myself if not liking him, at least accepting him more. The bit about his creation and learning period was interesting and the bit where Alice is mentally following the lines of future and making adjustments in Phoenix was good.
The narrator wasn’t great but wasn’t awful either. There were a few times that if I hadn’t already known the story and conversation from the original book I would have gotten confused about what was inner monologue and what was being spoken aloud.
From reading other reviews, I am gleaning if you were junior high/high school/ early 20s when you first read it, you probably won’t like this. If you were older you will probably be ok. So take that as it may.

Great series here and on YouTube

I found this by watching Simon’s YouTube videos of these readings and I am very glad to be able to listen to them here as a podcast while I am driving.
I love his clear enunciation and his asides and reactions make me laugh.
