Historia
Woodrow Wilson Nickel, age 105, feels his life ebbing away. But when he learns giraffes are going extinct, he finds himself recalling the unforgettable experience he cannot take to his grave. It’s 1938. The Great Depression lingers. Hitler is threatening Europe, and world-weary Americans long for wonder. They find it in two giraffes who miraculously survive a hurricane while crossing the Atlantic. What follows is a twelve-day road trip in a custom truck to become Southern California’s first giraffes. Behind the wheel is the young Dust Bowl rowdy Woodrow.

Disappointed Audible wouldn’t let me return this.
Revisado: 04-14-22
A little strong Scottish accent is fine intermittently in a story but this was constant and hard to listen to. There was no warning in the description that the narration would be like this. I have purchased all of the Iron Druid books and enjoyed Luke’s narration a great deal with those performances. I have also been a customer of Audible for many years with purchases totaling more than 350 titles. I should be able to return them.

Unless you are a psychotherapist, this book is not very helpful. It’s like listening to someone read a dictionary.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.
