The entire life of Dominic Savio as told by St. John Bosco was extremely edify. The story is neither sac, Ron, nor unbelievable. And though his life was remarkable, there is a relatability and humanness characteristic of all the saints. I highly recommend this wonderful story to adults and children alike.

So truthfully, I had a hard time getting into the book and if you do too, don’t worry, it gets much better! No spoilers here, but I kind of felt like the story meandered a lot until the author found his pace several chapters in. He found a stable setting and the story really was fantastic after that. If you enjoyed Enders game and Harry Potter, there are some echoes of these stories, but in a medieval twist with lots of mystery. I am praying for the author, that he gets to feeling better so he can write the next installment in the Dawn of Wonder!

Though short, I found this the most encouraging little synopsis of the INFJ. Glad I chose to listen to it.

Without saying too much, if you are an enthusiast of the children of Time series and enjoy the creativity of Tchaikovsky’s space series, wrapped in philosophy, and gilded with drama… But a very dry drama, like a fine bottle of wine… then this story is for you. Enjoy!

This I think is my fourth go at the land of Middle Earth and once again I am astounded by how much is missed or failed to be recollected. I am always grateful to JRR Tolkien for his legacy.
Of all the story tellers of the world, to him I am most grateful.

But half the story waxing poetic, it gets kind of old after the first several times

It was a creative idea. And for the most part I enjoyed the story. However, there comes a point when you’re using expletives because you’ve run out of creativity.
The concepts and general storyline were very interesting. I think it had a lot more potential than it lived up to.
The narrator cycled a lot between being loud and too soft. Sometimes it was hard to understand him. He also could’ve used more variation when narrating the different characters.
Overall, enjoyable, but there are better science fiction stories out there.

And by the second half of the book I was listening with bated breath. I have to admit that the first half dragged in some places, and certain characters who I have come to expect a lot more from seemed very flat. Trying not to include any spoilers. Overall though I was very happy with the ending and very moved by certain moments where are heroes confronted past events. By way of critique, The story definitely could’ve done without a small pinch of incense to Cesar, hinting at contemporary cultural issues. Just tell a story. Maybe Sanderson wasn’t trying to offer a bit of commentary on our present day issues, but there was one chapter (maybe two) where it kind of smelled like it. Anyway hope all of this veiled language is helpful. All in all, another great book in the Stormlight Archive.

I think this book is phenomenal. While I can’t say I really like the title (one man has is and will save the Church, and that is Jesus Christ), I get the point the author is trying to make. The Church is in the same dilapidated repair as when a young Saint Francis first heard the voice of Christ speaking from the crucifix in a run down and forgotten church. The author summons men, namely priests, to heroic virtue as the only way of rebuilding Christ’s wounded church. Drawing from powerful witnesses and gut wrenching testimonies from his own encounters, Kevin wells lays out a thought provoking method of holiness. If every priest were to take seriously the words of this layman, who loves the church, loves priests, and so wishes to see them rise to the occasion... boy, what a fire we would ignite.

Aside from a few mispronunciations by the reader (not the author), I wholeheartedly recommend this book to men and especially to my brother priests.

Good continuation of plot and development of characters, more complex magic (with consequences). Always makes the story more interesting when Magics are complex. Could have done without the adult content, though it was not incessant like some of the more recent fantasy novels written, *hem* Mr. Rothfuss.

... that I’ve ever heard, this was the most powerful. Immaculee’s story is heart wrenching, powerful, and hope filled. You will smile and cry and ask the age old question: how could God allow this to happen? You will confront the darkness in your own heart, even if you are not a believer. You will ask God to forgive you for your own wrongdoing. You will find healing and know that if God could help Immaculee to forgive and heal, you certainly can as well.
I could not recommend this book more highly.
