This book was written, very well. It’s a collection of essays by the author and read by the author you get a sense of the underlying depression the author struggles with in his life kind of makes me feel a little depressed as well, but there’s also some nice beauty, moments throughout the book, there are funny moments of humor, sad moments, and many profound moments

It’s not a book that made me want to keep reading , not the kind of page Turner exciting storyline that is so enjoyable for most of us. It was a little bit of work to read this book, which is a nice change of pace, sometimes and refreshes the pallet.

Unfortunately, this book is just telling what is happening as if it’s reporting he did this. They did that then this happened then that happened. There is almost no character development. Very disappointing!

However, the production value is fantastic.

I could not finish this book. The characters in the book had this enlightened smugness. After 7 or 8 hours into the story I just couldn’t take it anymore. Did not finish.

Such an enjoyable story. Great character development and lots of solid plot lines. Never quite sure what was going to happen.

So bad! The storyline was all, “They did this, then they did that…” it was too hard to listen to and I gave up. Great production value though.

How does Olan Thoreson do it? His stories are so human, full of depth, and thoughtful. I wish she had more books to read. I think I’ve read all of them and I want more.

Eat Pray Love is well written. But, I can’t help but wonder if all the spiritual investments the author made were a huge waste of time for her. A really good therapist can help a person get to the bottom of one’s thoughts and emotions, bringing healing, restoration, and insights. All the spiritual aspects of this story often made me roll my eyes and fight the urge to skip ahead.

All in all I was routing for the author in her journey and I was happy that she got to a good place.

I had to roll my eyes in this story many many times. The whole idea/premise of “I suppose it was meant to be” is a nauseating and fatalistic mindset that was hard to stomach in this story.

Besides that, it was a very enjoyable book, very well written and moving. Five stars except for the above point.

This writer is fantastic. It’s the second book I’ve read of hers. Both of them are deep and rich stories. Absolutely fantastic character portrayals, heart felt, complicated, honest, and sublime.

Nothing but love for these books!!
