50% Economic Theory 50% Economic Idealism

I didn't want to give this book such a low score. But without writing a counter argument near the length of the book I will try to summarize my complaints.

First, Capitalism is NOT a form of government so conflating it as such is a waste of time.

Second, "Pure" Capitalism would not be as idealistic as the author makes it out to be. It would be near unworkable like other extreme forms of popularism. Crony Capitalism and Coruption is a certainty when monopolies are concerned. I noticed that he did not mention the Microsoft Coruption over things like third party software like ZIP. Only the nonsense with Internet Explorer.

Third, Gobalism is a cancer upon humanity. Having a subjective "higher standards of living" by having oranges in winter snow do not make up for the fact that "Elites" use globalism as the levers of power to oppress the common man. This was just seen with the Lockdowns. They can now use hunger as a weapon because of outsourcing of production. It is also naive to think that foreign countries will not use blockades and sanctions to wage economic warfare. Look at European gas/energy prices and American Inflation as an example of the failure of globalism.

Fourth, since perfect information is not available to customers/employees/producers sometimes government regulation is preferred to free market forces. The fallcy comes in leaving the regulation in place after the market matures. The US car industry had sealed beam headlights as a mandatory standard. These were inarguably superior to European lights, until they were not. At which the regulation was petitioned for removal. Customers been human cannot always make the best choice. While more freedom from the government is always better regulation serves a role in modern society. The system has become too complex for anything else.

This book was filled with excellent economic theory, however. The Gold Standard was an excellent controller of government spending. The book is also correct in establishing the causal link between Inflation and money printing. While I totally agree about the inevitable failure and waste fullness of governmental spending programs.

Some programs must be paid for regardless of efficiency. Millitary/Police/Firefighter/Emergency Medical Services/Courts. These services should not be privatized for a number of reasons. You may have noticed I did not include Education or Wellfare. Education should always be up to the individual as should personal care.

I recommend this book to people who have a grasp on economics already.

Glosses over the brutal acts of Communism

This book does not cover many of the extremely negative aspects of communists. Communism has killed more than 100 million people to date.

Becoming Sicence Fantasy

The first was a half way decent sci-fi Alien Invasion story.

How did this happen? The aliens now can teleport, survive in vacuum, drug environmental protected soldiers(but only men). The aliens seem to have become fantasy vilians instead of cruel hunters.

The darkland two paths chapter was the BIGGEST load of cringe I have ever heard, I noticed a few massive plot holes as well.

This book needs major rewrites to fix the glaring problems.

Substandard Sci-Fi

I started typing out entire criticism of this work, but I got tired while doing that. It's not the most offensively bad book I've ever read, but it's not bad enough for a full breakdown of why it is below average. I got the book for free on Audiable Plus but the hours I listened to it were not rewarding enough for any sort of recommendation.

The author should either harden up the sci-fi and millitary elements or move move towards science fantasy.

I am glad this book exists

One wonders why people keep trying to give the failed system of communism a chance. it has never once been successful and all it makes is brutal governments and heaps of corpses.

As for the book, I would have liked if he would have gone into more detail about the numerous failed African attempts at communism.

This book is excellent for a person whom wishes to start learning about the Reds, or for your friends who are naive about the commies.

This book makes me sad for the future

The ends on a hopeful note, having done a surperb job of educating people on the realities of the Koran. However as modern history has shown nothing has come from this book in terms of what is needed to defeat the Global Jihad. If anything it is much worse today than when this book was printed. Still this book was an eye opening experience. It is well worthwhile to read/listen to. I can't recommend it enough.

Great lecture series

Great book of summaries

Interesting anecdotes about Rome and daily life there. Not a history book, so don't go into it looking for a full breakdown of historical events.

This should be required reading/listening

Communism has never worked, and this book puts into perspective the costs of allowing Communism to take hold of a country. it also clearly brings to light the fact that factionlism plagues it evern more greatly than normal democracies because most democracies do not degrade into Stat organizised violence.
