Historia
A moving love story displaying all of Austen's signature wit and ironic narrative style. Persuasion is Jane Austen's last completed novel. She began it soon after she had finished Emma, completing it in August 1816.

Calming entertainment
Revisado: 05-03-20
A well known and often read novel, but returning to it through audio was just what I needed in these stressed filled times of unknown. My only criticism is that although I enjoyed the voice and inflection of the reader, there were times when it was hard to know who was speaking. Ms. Sarah doesn’t change voice or attitude with characters. This is just a minor criticism. It was a much needed listening experience.

I enjoy listening to these books. It’s like being on the islands with Jimmy Perez , Sandy, and so many of the islanders who have become familiar with their accents and small island life.

It's also Darcy's chance to hit the beach and meet her new summertime neighbors. But the last person the thirty-year-old librarian expects to see staying next door is her ex-husband, Boyz, along with his wife, Autumn, and stepdaughter, Willow.

Just Beachy!
Revisado: 06-27-18
Just what I needed for a light summer read / listen to—even sans sand and crashing waves.😊 Thayer rarely disappoints and Amy McFadden captures the innocence yet complexity of the characters. An enjoyable read.

Historia
At the age of 22, Jennifer Worth left her comfortable home to move into a convent and become a midwife in postwar London’s East End slums. The colorful characters she met while delivering babies all over London - from the plucky, warm-hearted nuns with whom she lived to the woman with 24 children who couldn't speak English to the prostitutes and dockers of the city’s seedier side - illuminate a fascinating time in history.

Being a fan of the PBS series, I was very pleased with the book. Nicola Barber’s soothing voice and excellent characterization added to the enjoyment of the book.

Excellent Contemporary Western
Revisado: 12-02-15
If you could sum up The Cold Dish in three words, what would they be?
realistic--thoughtful--intriguing
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Walt's trek through the snow was like being there, feeling the cold, feeling the weight of his burden, feeling his pain, and experiencing his visions.
Which character – as performed by George Guidall – was your favorite?
Bear: With Guidall's interpretation I can see all the things Bear has been, is, and will be, all done with respect to his Native American heritage.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Real men in real places
Any additional comments?
I loved listening to this book and look forward to more. I've watched and enjoyed the TV series but like the book even more. Guidall does such a good job of the reading, I think I'll pursue this series through audio instead of the written page.

Listening a Charm
Revisado: 12-02-15
If you could sum up Pride and Prejudice [Audible Studios] in three words, what would they be?
fun--insightful--memorable
What was one of the most memorable moments of Pride and Prejudice [Audible Studios]?
Elizabeth's reading Darcy's letter. The reader inflects her turmoil well.
Which scene was your favorite?
Pemberley--how it plays with character!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Extreme--no. Grin, smile, chuckle, even laugh out loud at times--yes.
Any additional comments?
Although I've read P&P many times, I had fun revisiting this old friend. Listening brought a new experience to the book: I heard passages I had missed or weren't as impressed by in just reading. I enjoyed Duncan's interpretation of characters and didn't feel I was just listening to a rerun of BBC versions. Yes, I enjoyed listening and have moved on to Persuasion and am enjoying it too.
