Historia
The year is 1739. Eliza Lucas is sixteen years old when her father leaves her in charge of their family’s three plantations in rural South Carolina and then proceeds to bleed the estates dry in pursuit of his military ambitions. Tensions with the British, and with the Spanish in Florida, just a short way down the coast, are rising, and slaves are starting to become restless. Her mother wants nothing more than for their South Carolina endeavor to fail so they can go back to England. Soon her family is in danger of losing everything.

Offensive Story
Revisado: 08-01-22
I was appalled at the new packaging of an old story of “the kind slave owner”.
As if slavery was OK because the owner was benevolent.
How about this, slavery is OK because slaves were allowed to learn to read?

Historia
Every spring, billions of birds sweep north, driven by ancient instincts to return to their breeding grounds. This vast parade often goes unnoticed, except in a few places where these small travelers concentrate in large numbers. One such place is along Lake Erie in northwestern Ohio. There, the peak of spring migration is so spectacular that it attracts bird watchers from around the globe, culminating in one of the world’s biggest birding festivals. Now climate change threatens to disrupt patterns of migration and the delicate balance between birds, seasons, and habitats.

I loved the authors other work…
Revisado: 02-11-22
I absolutely loved The Alchemist.
I expected the same from this book. What I didn’t expect was all the religious nonsense.
He lost me at bringing Christian & Catholic dogma into the story line.
I’m agnostic, but spiritual and the whole devils/angels/saints etc was the literary straw that broke this camel’s back.
Really, really a disappointment.
I think than many Christians might find it too “other” spirit realm to suit them as well.
The narrator was fine, he did a great job.
Sadly it was the author is the one who ruined this book.
No I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Empty drivel
Revisado: 01-10-20
I admit within the first 15 pages I was excited about the possibilities of this book.
Then it quickly declined to ridiculous magical antidotal theories of creativity literally floating around in the atmosphere.
I’m not joking, according to the author this magical atmospheric creativity may choose you and if you don’t pay it proper attention it will pack up and leave you for someone more attentive.
I thought the book was suppose to cover the subject of fear as it pertains to artistic block.
Nope, it’s more along the lines of instilling a fear of some kind of voodoo mojo that will curse your creativity on its way out the door.
Do yourself and your creativity a favor, don’t read this piece of solid bovine waste.

What a crock!
Revisado: 05-14-18
The narrator is awful, sounds like an automated or computerized voice.
The book itself is full of mis-facts and unsubstantiated facts. The first 5 chapters sounded like one long commercial of how brilliant and smart the writer/doctor thinks he is. He used antidotal evidence and “success stories”rather than case studies.
I do not recommend this book or the author.

Not the best as an audio book. Buy the hard copy, it’s a cute book and touched on an important topic. I am a happy and proud owner of the written book.
The audiobook just doesn’t do it justice. Buy the book.

Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

One long constant complaint
Revisado: 08-04-17
I don't need the negativity. I thought perhaps after the introduction and chapter 1 there might be a story that made it all worth while. I admit I didn't finish the book, but after 5 chapters I wonder why I was listening to such garbage.
