Historia
Time is a tricky devil. And so is that blasted imp! Violet Parker needs to catch the little terror before it wreaks even more havoc in the Black Hills. But now that she’s saddled with this dang Timekeeper gig, she has a lot to juggle, like the real monsters wanting to tear the flesh from her bones just for fun. If she can’t figure out how to wrangle “time” to save her family, the Grim Reaper might come swinging for them next.

Terrible writing
Revisado: 05-20-24
0ne of the worst stories that I've ever heard. Writing is subpar, character development is non-existent and the story barely fleshed out.

Great characters you really care about
Revisado: 05-12-24
Spoiler alert!!!
The definition of the characters in this series just gets better and better. From Mr. Tom watching out for Jimmy, to Nessa working as Edgar's "shadow." I'm caring more and more about them as the series progresses. While I have never been a victim of abuse, Jessie's feelings upon returning for Christmas with her ex seemed very true to life. Finding herself in his narcissistic presence, she began to fall into the old patterns and mindsets. When she finally breaks free, it is inspiring.

Virtual voice shortcomings

I enjoyed the stories and the characters. Character development wasn't too in-depth, but it was ok. The virtual voice was ok except for a couple things...Porche was pronounced porch and 9-1-1 was read as 9 hundred 11.

Historia
In September 1925, Scotland Yard DCI Alec Fletcher inherits a large house on the outskirts of London from a recently deceased great-uncle. Fortunately so, as he and his wife, the Honorable Daisy Dalrymple Fletcher, are the recent proud parents of twins, and their house is practically bursting at the seams. Though in need of a bit of work, this new, larger house seems a godsend - set in a small circle of houses, with Hampstead Heath nearby, the setting is idyllic. Idyllic, that is until a dead body shows up half-hidden under the bushes of the communal garden.

I've enjoyed this series, a lot. For some reason, though, I decided to read reviews before acquiring this installment. I was a little put off by those claiming it was overrun with sex. I like a good steamy scene very much thank you, but I do find that I prefer to read it myself as opposed to listening to it. So, I thought twice before diving in. The sex claims are highly exaggerated, IMHO. I also think that what sex there is is crucial to the Mate storyline between Jessie and Austin. That said, I do think this could have been part of the previous book just because it was too short!
