Historia
Bubblegum is set in an alternate present-day world in which the internet does not exist and has never existed. Rather, a wholly different species of interactive technology - a "flesh-and-bone robot" called the Curio - has dominated both the market and the cultural imagination since the late 1980s. Belt Magnet, who as a boy in greater Chicago became one of the lucky first adopters of a Curio, is now writing his memoir, and through it we follow a singular man out of sync with the harsh realities of a world he feels alien to but must find a way to live in.

Quite literally the worst book
Revisado: 02-21-25
This was the worst book I’ve ever paid money to own. The audio performers were great, but they had very little to work with and I hope they were paid well. The entire narrative felt like a 30 some odd hours retelling of a fever dream a child might give at the height of flu. The alternative history theme seemed like a lightly veiled excuse to disregard social conventions. The weird and constant gore was uncomfortable and its purpose was not ever explained in a way that meaningfully contributed to the plot. Awful.

the depth and breadth of its awfulness
Revisado: 12-20-24
bought dramatized version on accident and it is horrible. I powered through, but my wife only made it 12 minutes into the title and was put off by the awkward moaning and strange music. completely miserable experience.
unfortunately, since I paid for the title with actual money, not a credit, I am unable to return it...seriously? that policy is worse than dramatized versions of audiobooks.

Far too try-hard for my taste, and I generally have astonishingly terrible taste in literature. Finally gave up with two hours remaining.

Historia
Dr. Tyson Klein is a quantum physicist who has dedicated his entire life to his research. At CERN, he analyses data generated by the Large Hadron Collider, the world's biggest and most powerful particle accelerator. Now, Ty believes he's found a pattern in its output. It looks like an organised data stream, being broadcast over what he calls a quantum radio. Could it be a signal from another universe? A message sent from the future? Or something else entirely?

interesting story
Revisado: 04-19-23
I consume a lot (too much) science fiction and have never heard of this particular author, but decided to purchase because of other books read by the narrator. Ultimately, I really liked it. I disagree with negative reviews about failing to deliver pace in the middle. Story building is essential and I felt like the flow was perfect for this genre. Well done. I will continue to purchase books in this series and plan to look into other books written by the author.

In each episode, they tackle a different topic, teaching listeners about the biology, history, and epidemiology of a different disease or medical mystery. They do the scientific research, so you don’t have to. Since 2017, Erin and Erin have explored chronic and infectious diseases, medications, poisons, viruses, bacteria and scientific discoveries. They’ve researched public health subjects including plague, Zika, COVID-19, lupus, asbestos, endometriosis and more. Each episode ...

This is a terrible romance...
Revisado: 08-26-22
I'm currently struggling through this book. I'm surprised by the vast amount of sexism and dated gender stereotypes.
Somehow the author works in something about the lead character being sexually desperate every other sentence. It's so forced and very unrealistic. If you ever wanted to read version of Twilight after an age where everyone has had time to burn through a marriage or so, this is a good choice.
I'm sad to have lost a credit. This is truly cringeworthy. I say that as person who made it through all of Star Kingdom twice. I really thought I had primed well enough for this series, but I'm probably done.

Historia
At first, it looks like a disease. An epidemic that spreads through no known means, driving its victims mad with memories of a life they never lived. But the force that’s sweeping the world is no pathogen. It’s just the first shock wave, unleashed by a stunning discovery - and what’s in jeopardy is not our minds but the very fabric of time itself. In New York City, Detective Barry Sutton is closing in on the truth - and in a remote laboratory, neuroscientist Helena Smith is unaware that she alone holds the key to this mystery...and the tools for fighting back.
