An Exceptional Memoir
Revisado: 03-01-20
I have often wondered how someone can reach extraordinary success as opposed to living an ordinary life. Luckily, I felt that I was privy to a one on one with a person who would be a valuable asset as one of Oprah's Master Class Instructors.
Well Lived reminds us of the American Dream and how it is possible to come from humble beginnings and still find a way to meet our goals despite facing unexpected challenges along the way. It reiterates that family matters. How choosing that one beloved partner in life contributes to both professional and personal success. As an Irish American, Holleran served his country and chose to face the unknown without fear on his way to the top. Whether he was stateside or across the big pond, his undying love for family, his country and his integrity carry the reader into decades of memories and never-ending hope.
In facing adversity, it reminds us to look for opportunities in the challenges and how to take that first step to carry on. Holleran unknowingly informs the reader of how his family carries on his "NEVER TAKE NO AS AN ANSWER" way of life.
A lifetime of emotions come to surface as life and death decisions must be made and the lives that were saved along the way.
A must read for anyone that is in a leadership role. Whether you are a mentor or a mentee this book is an indispensable gem. Holleran's life story may be the antidote that this country needs for us all to get back on the right track. Well Lived is an extraordinary read.

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

Gripping.

Could not stop listening to this book. One of the best books that I have heard in a long time. It was difficult for me to believe that this was based on the author’s life. I found myself researching the author and the locations mentioned in the book. Incredible journey of transformation while having to face a past filled with abuse, lies & mental illness. Wish I could give it more stars.
