Wonderful story!
Revisado: 10-04-19
I always like Nora Roberts, but this book was special. The hero (heroine?) in the story was such a delightful mix of character traits I fell in love. His sense of humor was delightful that I laughed out loud often. The story had some interesting twists to it as well, which satisfied me after coming of a marathon of mystery romances. This one was definitely worth the credit!

Freaking Awesome
Revisado: 10-03-19
I love Sandra Brown's mysteries. This one kept me on my toes and at the very end, when I thought the story was wrapping up,..there was one more shock.
Gosh I love her mysteries!

Historia
The letters Kyla sent to her husband, Sergeant Richard Stroud, stationed a world away, spoke of a love that stretched across the ocean and held the young couple together. But when tragedy ended their marriage too soon, Kyla was left a widow with a newborn son. And Richard left behind only a metal box filled with his wife's declarations of love. Trevor Rule had been Richard's best friend. Returning home from military duty, he carried with him the letters Kyla had sent. And with each one he read, he fell more in love with the gentle, passionate woman.

Definitely Dated
Revisado: 10-03-19
As one reviewer noted, this is definitely dated, but kind of a nostalgic blast from the past if you don't mind the chauvanism. I love Sandra Brown, but I love her thrillers more than her love stories!! Considering that, this one was OK.

Historia
Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff, miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has grown cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and paralyze the search for her. While police suspect Jeff of "instant divorce," Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won't even tell her his name.

Impressed with this author!
Revisado: 07-11-19
I have not read Sandra Brown till now and I see I was missing some good books! Bought this on sale and I am grateful I tripped across it. I loved the story. It kept me guessing till the end. There were a number of twists and turns that kept the reader interested and I had trouble putting it down. I am going back now to buy more of her books--very entertaining!

Historia
Photographer Jo Ellen Hathaway thought she'd escaped the house called Sanctuary long ago. She'd spent her loneliest years there, after the sudden, unexplained disappearance of her mother. Yet the sprawling inn on an island off the Georgia coast continues to haunt her dreams. And now, even more haunting are the pictures someone is sending her: strange close-ups and candids, culminating in the most shocking portrait of all - a photo of her mother - naked, beautiful, and dead.

Revisado: 02-21-19
I read a fair amount of Roberts and this one is one of my favorites because of the various character stories going on within the overall story. It was an enjoyable read and a shocking revelation...wouldn't want to spoil end! Definitely worth a credit!

Take it or Leave it
Revisado: 11-09-17
When I started this listen, I thought I was getting a history lesson. I am sure that would have been more interesting in print and it did pertain to the story but it just doesn't carry over as well into an audio. I was also annoyed by all the "he said, she said" words. Not the dialogue, but the actual words being said as the conversation switches back and forth. It would have been better if the voices were distinct enough that that was unnecessary.
It was a good storyline and I did not guess the culprit right away, but I had it before he was revealed.
I will read the rest, just cause I don't like to leave a series unfinished. But it's not something I'll be returning to for a second listen.
It's getting 3 stars across the board because it was not bad, just not exciting. But then again I just read S King, so maybe after coming off that, it would take something amazing to compare....

I forgot how much I enjoyed King's writing.
Revisado: 11-08-17
It's been a few years since I have read Stephen King and I had forgotten what a wonderful writer he is! This is a great story. There are so many levels to it that one listen is not enough because I was afraid I might have missed something so I had to listen twice. King runs you threw the range of emotions with his writing, fear, sadness, laughter and on....The music is a plus and it intertwines into the story he is telling.
His cultural references are fun too, but then again, they make me realize how old I am since I have heard so many of them!
As for King as an narrator, It was cool because it was him, kind of like seeing him cameo in movies of his stories. He also knows how it is supposed to sound since the story came out of his head. On the other hand, he does not have the most dramatic of voices.
Great story!

Nobody does madness as well as French!
Revisado: 11-05-17
What a story. It was so engrossing that I had to listen twice before I moved on to the next book in the series. French's descriptions and character development is amazing and she can lead you around with ease as you try to determine who committed the crime.
The main character changed and evolved before our eyes. While I did not think much of him in the last book, by the time I finished this story, I was worried about what would happen to him next, because the ending took me that much by surprise.
Another great listen by French!

Historia
Being on the murder squad is nothing like Detective Antoinette Conway dreamed it would be. Her partner, Stephen Moran, is the only person who seems glad she's there. The rest of her working life is a stream of thankless cases, vicious pranks, and harassment. Antoinette is savagely tough, but she's getting close to the breaking point. Their new case looks like yet another by-the-numbers lovers' quarrel gone bad. Aislinn Murray is blond, pretty, groomed to a shine, and dead in her catalogue-perfect living room, next to a table set for a romantic dinner.

The more I listen to French, the more I like her stories. The characters and plots are very involved and this one was no exception. The mysteries are not easy to guess at!! This one started out a little slow, but the last 2 hours were incredible. Too hard to describe without being a spoiler. Narration was OK.

An interesting look into the minds of teenagers!
Revisado: 11-05-17
I disagree with the reviewer that complained that this book was tied up with a bunch of valley girl teenagers. I am impressed by French's ability to describe the teenage mind and spirit. She did a wonderful job! I work with teenagers and I thought she captured the joy and wonder and angst of that phase of life very well! Good story, good twists and turns with an ending that blew me away.
Narration was fine, back and forth is not my favorite, but I see how it was the right thing to do based on the way this story was told.
