This was different than most of the others
Revisado: 04-07-25
This was very different than her usual. Sometimes she does have a couple of things going on, but it seemed a little disjointed this time. Too many pots in the fire I still enjoyed it and it’s always good to hear the familiar characters, but maybe stick to less storylines and more in depth and suspense.

I really liked this one. I have read many after this and miss the total lack of Nolan and only a line or two from Dana.

So different that her (their) others. But really good. The mystery was intriguing and fresh. It was interesting to find out more about the issue the heroine had and how she compensated for it.

The two authors and heroines
Revisado: 01-19-25
I really liked the two heroines in the same book. They complimented each other nicely and would look forward to see some more in addition to them separately. I did have to skip some of the graphic details of what was happening to girls in the book. So that is why the story got a 4. If I could have done a 4.5, I would have.

I was impressed with this book. I really like her Rizzoli and Isles books and wondered if she could do others as well. Some authors can not. But this is a home run. I would like to see more about the Martini Club!

Disappointed
Revisado: 11-23-24
This dealt way too much in the characters issues and problems. Very low on mystery and that’s after all what I was here for. I like the characters and the mysteries in the past but it’s got to be more mysteries than anything else for me. Also, I don’t like stories that arch over several books. You can have continuation of the storylines yes but to present some major issues and then leave you hanging at the end of the book and not have it resolved is unacceptable for me.

As details of the animals’ mysterious deaths emerge, rumors explode that a mystical creature—the ever-elusive bigfoot—may be responsible.

Story OK Narrator very good.
Revisado: 10-16-24
The plot and story was definitely not as good as his first two. The last one and this one were rather similar and premise. Let’s get back to a little more involved mystery without crazy clueless foreigners with ill advised plans. The lead in this book is a wildlife officer. I am surprised he doesn’t know that birds are animals. This was mentioned several times in the book. He made the statement, birds and animals. Birds like mammals, reptiles, amphibians, insects are all animals, but the author doesn’t seem to realize that.
I like the new narrator. He makes the characters come alive and his inflection is much better.

Can’t take it anymore
Revisado: 07-01-24
The story, the mystery itself, was good. But the relationship between Kendra and Lynch is just gone on too long. It is just too ridiculous. At one point in the story Kendra said she was a bitch and I have to agree with her. The way she treats Lynch just doesn’t make sense. One moment when she’s thinking to herself, she says how much he means to her and how much she cares about him but the way she talks to him and treats him is bad. This has been going on and on and on. I keep hoping that this will be the book that it’ll change. But it doesn’t. I do like a good mystery and this caustic relationship is just distracting from the mystery itself. It’s time to fish or cut bait. Kendra doesn’t have to give up her freedom, independence and her strong personality. He is a black ops agent of course he’s going to do something better than she can.
If things don’t change, I definitely think I can no longer read these books.

Historia
Christian Cooper is a self-described “Blerd” (Black nerd), an avid comics fan and expert birder who devotes every spring to gazing upon the migratory birds that stop to rest in Central Park, just a subway ride away from where he lives in New York City. While in the park one morning in May 2020, Cooper was engaged in the birdwatching ritual that had been a part of his life since he was ten years old when what might have been a routine encounter with a dog walker exploded age-oldracial tensions. Cooper’s viral video of the incident would send shock waves through the nation.

This was a really good book. From the title I expected it to be mostly about birding and it was much more. Very insightful about being gay and black.
